No worries, I don't always think of you as a heretic.
Just wait, 'cuz you'll be itchin' to burn me at the stake in a moment...
Have you listened to the G3 version of Red House?
I'm sorry to say I don't much care for the blues.
And yes, I am aware of the heavy influence the blues has had on rock 'n' roll and blah-blah-blah. I get it, all right? I just don't care for it. Sorry.
However, one fave group of mine that is heavily blues influenced is AC/DC, especially the Bon Scott era.
A Whole Lotta Rosie is a prime example. The fact that the song starts, "Wanna tell you a story..." pretty much says it all.
or the G3 take on Voodoo Child?
I also don't care much for Hendrix.
Fly into an apoplectic rage all you want, but I've never understood his so-called "genius"...
...except when I
see him perform. It's then that I get what people are talking about.
I gotta have the visual element when it comes to Hendrix; just hearing his stuff doesn't quite do it for me.
Okay, NOW I get it.I could put up G3's versions of Smoke on the Water and Little Wing, I don't think everyone is ready for that though.
Out of all of the Deep Purple tracks I've taken my ear to,
Smoke on the Water is my least favorite. It's almost as overplayed as
Hotel California on classic rock radio.
This, on the other hand, is awesomeness defined
and refined:
Two bridges, no waiting. There's Victor Wooten too, but keep that on the down low if you know what mean:
Hey, that's kinda relaxing right there. Just a nice kick-back-and-bliss-out type deal.
And that's often what I'm lookin' for in a tune.
