Going through Metallica's albums from the '80s.

I loves a good solo.

We had one of those in the media closet while I was at the U of M Morris. They never used it. I tried to get them to sell it to me for years. They never would Sad

€435. I bought it at the (famous in Europe) German "Music Store Professional". I've bought stuff there before. They're pretty awesome when you live in Belgium. Because Belgium is close, any purchase over €100 will be shipped for free. Their prices are also unmatched here because they buy in large quantities. Buying the exact same player in Belgium would cost me around €580 (no joke). See it here. I know it's a bit over the top to have a professional DJ player in my bedroom (while I'm not a DJ), but I don't regret it...I like high-end equipment.

I also had to buy a stylus; they recommended me this one (Shure M97xE) as being the best for simply playing records (no scratching).

Then I had to buy a phono premamp because my studiomonitors (KRK Rokit RP-8) are active monitors already. I went with this cheap one (ART DeeJay Pre II) from ART because the total cost was going up fast. It sounds better than I expected; I'll eventually replace it with a tube-preamp when I have the money.

I also had to buy 2 cables (although turned out I didn't need one of them Tongue) to hook it up to my FireWire Interface.

The whole thing set me back almost €600, but it doesn't bother me. I saved up for it and I don't regret it because it sounds awesome. nod

I got a £65 pair of headphones of my choice for my birthday last year. They're 5.1 surround (Sharkoon XTatic 5.1) and although the surround effect isn't fantastic, they're very good quality. I was a bit unsure of spending so much on headphones but I'm glad I did.

I use them with my Xbox 360 and PC so I can play late at night without disturbing anyone. I wrote a review for them in my blog on here.

Yup, I've read your review, it was good Smiley

Quality equipment always pays off in the long run. Not only does it sound better but it last much longer than cheap stuff.

Heh... I still love my pseudo surround sound system (Paid $4.50, stereo was 2, wiring was $2.50, speakers were free) and my Technics baseline player that I got for x-mas.

Metallica - Death Magnetic, the MUCH BETTER sounding Guitar Hero 3 mix. Someone in the production of that album really dropped the ball with the mixing on the regular CD version. Thank God Neversoft put out a version of this album without any dynamic range compression or brickwalling. Kudos guys, kudos.

Norah Jones - Come Away With Me

Perhaps a bit soppy but it's nice and relaxing late at night.
