The Game ft. Lil Wayne - My Life

I like this song, it goes beyond the typical "I got money and hoes" theme usually found in modern day rap.
^WIN!

Lil' Wayne is possibly the best mainstream rapper today.

That's why I exclusively listen to old school rap.

With good reason. Put up Will Smith's Summertime and you'll know rap has gone downhill.

Rappers used to tell stories; they were like poets. Somewhere along the way they turned into braggers...there's only a few exceptions nowadays, usually to be found in the underground circuit.

Modern mainstream rappers only care about how much chains they got hanging down their neck and how many albums they sell.
Or to say it with Chamillionaire's words:
Quote from: Chamillionaire - Failure's not an option
Gobble gobble all the greens so they call me green goblin.

Listen to Atmosphere or POS or Aesop Rock, and you're opinion of modern rappers with change.

I understand there are great modern rappers out there.

The rough majority of mainstream rappers however are like I described them, though.

Death Magnetic by Metallica (heh heh...)

Not too bad, they're getting back to classic Metallica with some ridiculous soloing in their songs.  If only they had actually "finished" St. Anger...
