I want to beef up my Dreamcast library. For one of my favorite systems ever I don't really have many games for it. Yeah it was only out for a year and 1/2 but there are I think 688+ games available.

Pretend I have no games, what are the must haves and what are some hidden gems?

HITLIST:

VGA Box

Bangai-O
Capcom vs SNK
Chu Chu Rocket
Elemental Gimmick Gear
Giga Wing
Grandia II
House of the Dead 2 (light gun)
Ikaruga
MvC 2
Phantasy Star Online
Power Stone
Power Stone 2
Record of Lodos War
RE: Code Veronica
Skies of Arcadia
Soul Calibur
Super Magnetic Neo
Time Stalkers
Toy Commander
Virtual On

Typing of the dead - need a keyboard but its certainly a unique console game

Cannon Spike - fun arcade shooter

Street Fighter 3 - One of my favorite fighters of all time and one of the most balanced

The Last Blade 2 - SNK fighter, AI can be bloody cheap, so a lot more fun in 2 player

Ecco - has a few issue, but its another unusual game worth checking out.

Blue Stinger - cheesetastic survival horror game.

legacy of kain soul reaver - best looking version

Stupid Invaders - lucasarts style point and clicker

Jet set radio - future on the xbox is better game but this is still well worth playing

Bangai-O is my all time favorite Dreamcast title so far. Its not for everyone, but definitely check it out and see if it looks like fun. Giga Wing and Power Stone are also pretty awesome.

We have a board with favorites games for each system in the child board "RFGeneration Archives".  Here is the link to the DC favorites thread: http://www.rfgeneration.c...um/index.php?topic=6539.0

I never got into the DreamCast myself, but there are quite a few recommendations on that thread.

there's actually only around 250 games released in the US, of which I have about half. So I'd be glad to give recommendations, but yeah - let us know what you're into.

And if you're open to imports there's a lot more to choose from as well. The DC actively got games for much longer in Japan.

I'm into imports though I haven't read up on how to play them lately so I have no clue. Anything that doesn't require a lot of reading Japanese to play is always a plus but I'll check out whatever you guys say is good. I like the really odd novelty games, I remember one coming out called Pepsi Man?

Can't go wrong with fighting/racing/puzzle games!

@NMW MVC2 for sure! I'm actually playing RE:CV on PS3. Had to restart because I had no health options on the final<?> boss. Sad

@Ryudo Pier Solar looks awesome, I hadn't heard of that one. I'm surprised no one else mentioned Shenmue heh
