Spent ~$200 on a dress, some makeup, and a very minor ceremony at the courthouse. Wife was due for major surgery the next day, and we'd been putting off getting married for close to 10 years. I told her we might as well get it out of the way before the surgery, so her parents came up and we had a few friends as witnesses. A friend of ours is familiar with makeup since her dad used to work in the industry with monster makeup, and she had a hell of a time trying to make my wife's face not look orange (she was starting to get jaundice from her gall bladder not working).

All-in-all, I would've hated a large ceremony - it worked out well for us. Less stress, and after all was said and done, we have the certificate of marriage.

My gf and I are talking about this stuff now.  We flipped a coin over who chooses the place. Who chooses the intro song first dance dinner music and who picks the last song.  Easiest and stress free way to do it. I got the intro song first dance  and last song. this shall be fun.

First Dance:  Led Zeppelin - Thank You (an under-appreciated love song)
Last Song:  Danger Danger - Slipped Her the Big One (when the in-laws are leaving)

Thats kinda bitter sweet.  You didn't spend a ton of money, but it wasn't under ideal conditions.

Lucky we're getting help from our folks, but regardless I'm still breaking the bank a little bit to make sure her night is "perfect".

86 days left.  Got most of the stuff out of the way, still need florist, cake, tuxes, and a few other small things. If i knew it was going to be this stressful and expensive i probably woulda just went to vegas real quick.

Yes, but when there are ideal conditions, we can always go on a second wedding/honeymoon.
