Currently reading "Freakonomics" by Steven D. Levitt.
In Freakonomics (written with Stephen J. Dubner), Levitt argues that many apparent mysteries of everyday life don't need to be so mysterious: they could be illuminated and made even more fascinating by asking the right questions and drawing connections. For example, Levitt traces the drop in violent crime rates to a drop in violent criminals and, digging further, to the Roe v. Wade decision that preempted the existence of some people who would be born to poverty and hardship. Elsewhere, by analyzing data gathered from inner-city Chicago drug-dealing gangs, Levitt outlines a corporate structure much like McDonald's, where the top bosses make great money while scores of underlings make something below minimum wage. And in a section that may alarm or relieve worried parents, Levitt argues that parenting methods don't really matter much and that a backyard swimming pool is much more dangerous than a gun.
Highly recommended, very interesting book.

Into That Darkness - Sereny
I read this one. I can very much recommend 'Albert Speer: his battle with the truth', from the same author.

I have that book. I have not read it yet. I also have Speer's memoirs, "Inside the Third Reich".
when my wife was finishing up college a few years ago she took a class on the Holocaust. I sat in for all the lectures and read all the text material she was assigned. It got me interested and I read an additional several books after the class was finished.

I finished the Magician:Apprentice by Raymond E. Feist, it was very good. I also finished the 2nd book in the Riftwar Sage called Magician: Master. That one was outstanding. Currently I'm about 100 pages into the 3rd book in the series called Silverthorn and it's shaping up quite well. There is one more in this series called A Darkness at Sethanon.
Feist has several other books based on the same location and characters. It's fantasy so it's a bit like Lord of the Rings but obviously with a more modern writing style. I'm looking forward to reading many more by this author.
I finished Silverthorn and A Darkness at Sethanon thus concluding the 4 books of the Ritwar Saga. It was very good. I'm currently about 90 pages into another Feist novel called "Prince of the Blood". It takes place 20 years after the events of the RIftwar Saga. Many of the same chracters are still around, the main 2 being the twin sons of Prince Arutha, heirs to the throne of Midkemia. This story is a 2 book series. Pretty good so far.

I picked up Eye of the World by Robert Jordan today. I haven't read it since seventh grade, so I'm really happy.
He's had such a ridiculous amount of books in the trilogy that I've about forgotten what's happened in the beginning. .___.

I loved those Robert Jordan books until i got to the fifth one and realized there were still five more.
Right now I'm reading: A Soldier of the Great War by Mark Helprin (i think the name's close) It's pretty good and someday I plan to make the movie.

just finished the new Harry Potter book. I'm also about 15 pages from finishing Prince of the Blood.
after that? I suspect I'll stick with Feist. I've got several more of his books to read though I'm missing a few. I may need to move onto something else till I track down the one's i need.
I've also been reading the omnibus edition of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. I'm about halfway through Restaurant at the End of the Universe.

I started reading this book called Guilty Pleasures.
It has vampires animators, zombies of varios types, ghouls and wererats so far.
It is set in a world where all the stuff is apparently well known about because there are laws in place to protect vampires and they are recognised by at least the USA as a group/race of people.
Not bad so far. I am only about 55 pages but the book is only abuot 260 pages long though...

Finished up the book i was reading.
Now i can wait for a month or more for my bro to finish the new Harry Potter and i can find something else to readin the mean time or i can just stop reading until he finishes the book...
I have some old Hitchcock short story books i got from my dad awhile ago and never read.
They were some biweekly or monthly publication from the late 60s to late70s i can't remembe the years on them anymore...
That and maybe i will steal one of Dans books next time i see him he has a few things i wanted to read like Time Line by Micheal Chriton(sp?)

Krondor: The Betrayal is the one I'm on now.
I've also been picking up a lot of the paperbacks based on the Star Trek shows for a quarter a piece at the thrifts. I'd like to read some of these.
