I see the cheats in the menu, but turning them on has no effect.

Do you have a game in particular that you are trying? if its one I have I can check to see if maybe the cheats are bugged. I know a few for Streets of Rage 2 didn't work.

Once you get everything setup and running, you should do a review on it. Wink

That would be sweet!
You should do it Duke, maybe as part of a future podcast?

Is anyone else having difficulty getting theirs to update? I'm getting an 'Installation failed' message whenever I try to install System Software 0.2.2.

Additionally, this seems to want to run the initial controller pairing and other calibration every time it turns on. I'm wondering if there's something wonky with the internal memory on this thing...

It should only pair the controller once, after that you should only have to tap a button on it to "turn on the controller." Maybe you have a loose connection in the power cord?
The updates are pretty weird. Make  sure you follow the directions to the letter. I imagine the two issues are related though.

I swapped out the Retron and it remembers its controller now (hooray!), but I stil can't get it to update. I put the file from the first step here[/card] onto an SD card, then put the card into the Retron. The Retron picks up that the update is there, but it fails when trying to install it. I'm really not sure what I could be doing wrong...I've tried a couple of different SD cards, but always the same results.

It sounds like your doing it right. Did you format the card before you started? In my experience systems like this can be very sensitive to file structure.

I just tried cheat codes for Genesis games, and they worked fine. I still have problems with NES though. Not sure why.
