I'm sort of in the same situation as you, in a much smaller scale.  I've been remodeling my room, but I'm still living with the parents.  I'm transferring and moving out in a year, so I'm sort of in a conundrum--do I simply remodel, or also accommodate for my collection?

Shadow, impressive collection!

Somehow I was under the assumption that you didn't have a lot of boxed systems, but I see I was wrong. I wish a had a room for my collection Sad
All the boxes in the first picture reminds me of our attic:

Hope you keep us updated with your progress!

Hey, I see an ASCIIWARE stick box there. Tongue

I need to make more effort to get rid of a lot of the loose items I own, since they're extremely hard to display properly and usually end up getting thrown in containers or boxes. I made a concerted effort to take photos and heavily document the hardware I had before I moved, only to have the site go down and lose the information I added in November and December. I still have the photos, but not the information... I'll get around to it eventually, I swear, but 300+ controllers is a lot to go through.

Made some more progress today - we put up a new cubbie shelf from IKEA to store a lot of the loose controllers.

Hey, noise... look what I found again!

I wouldn't let him in the room...so he jumped in a box and was pouty most of the time we were in there.

Now, for some updated pics of the room:

Look, a walkway! Hey, Razor's Sega Genesis/Sega CD are sitting in that box. I think I've got some empty boxes I can shove it in now.  laugh

The new shelf is in at the bottom, and we put up a lot more of the boxed stuff that was sitting outside the door:

Still have a lot of progress to make...

Incidentally, I uncovered the box with a lot of my display items in it. I need to lay some of the posters out to flatten them again, and then frame them to get them up on the wall. I have promotional posters for Sakura Wars, Star Ocean, and Modern Warfare (signed promotional poster) that I need to get up, as well as some GameCube glass stickers like the Sluggers sticker in the photo. I'll also actually get to put out my GBA "kiosk" on the lower shelf there too!

That's the wife thinking she escaped the photo. Unfortunately, she moved her arm so I couldn't get her Batarang tattoo in the photo.
Also, forgot to mention the light kit on the fan is new. Now I have light in the room so I can work in there at night and drag out interesting things to send people!

*bump* It's been almost a year since I updated this topic... however, my wife finally has a job that she enjoys and pays decently, and we've started to narrow down her vertigo issues (vertigo is caused by migraines), so we decided that we'd jump back into fixing up the room. Apparently, so did this fellow, who (along with the other large male cat) love to knock everything over and crush cardboard boxes. If you can't tell, he's standing on some of my Game Gear boxes here:

Left side of the room, kinda how we left it from last time:

Right side of the room, after the trials we had with using the wrong shelving and tearing up the wall (and subsequently my knee which caught the shelf):

Closer look at the new shelving. We'll be putting up the companion shelves with the rest of the consoles, but for now I've decided to go with an "oldest to newest" ordering with the major brands:

As messy as the first couple pics look, I'm ashamed to admit that they're downright immaculate compared to what my collection presently looks like. Thanks for motivating me to get my sorry ass in gear, big guy.

But more importantly: no pics of the Skylanders collection? For shame!

Those are in my bedroom, Zag. After one of the cats ran over my Hot Dog and almost destroyed it, I put them up on a high shelf until I could display them properly. They're kinda stacked up quite a bit, and some of the game boxes are in the RoD:

Looks great Shadow! I like the Neo Geo as the focal point for the room.
