^Yeah, but 8 GBs of console memory is different than 8 GBs of PC memory.  I honestly don't see the point in 8, however.  I believe the PS3 uses less than 1.

What really matters more than RAM is VRAM, and if the PS4 GPU offers 1GB VRAM then it will be at least on par with the most budget PC cards at the moment. I don't see many console games using more than 2 GB RAM at the moment.

No, not technically. The Cell processor was so much different than other CPUs that it made it hard to program for. By going back to the standard they're hoping their Dev Kits will be easier to use and bring PS4 back to the first system of choice instead of the backup like PS3 has been to the 360.
