There have been a lot of "favorite game" threads lately so I'm sorry to add one more but with PAX East coming up, I thought it would be a good time to find out what people are playing on the 3DS lately since I will be putting some hours on mine in the next month or so.

Bought my wife a 3DS XL for Valentine's (pink, of course) and we plan on getting Mario Kart 7 to play with the couple we are going to PAX with.

We are looking for suggestions besides the ones that everyone knows about, Super Mario 3D Land, Legend of Zelda, etc...

Currently considering:

Adventure Time
Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask

Adventure Time is great fun (especially for fans of the show) but it's over in a few hours.
If you've played previous Layton games, you know Miracle Mask; more good stuff.

My favorites:

Ace Combat is surprisingly solid, especially if you enjoyed the PS2 entries.

Bit.Trip Saga is superb, but for me it requires headphones and complete concentration.

Cave Story (any version) is worth going through if you haven't.

I for one really champion Code of Princess, but I'm a big Guardian Heroes fan.

If you can get comfortable with the odd controls, Kid Icarus is as good as you've heard.  I'm a southpaw, so it was a bit easier for me (for a change!)

Nano Assault is a lot of arcade shooty fun, kinda short but built for score runs.  Cheap too.

The Pinball Hall of Fame is a somewhat uninspired port, but I love some of the included tables (such as Funhouse and Pinbot) and it stayed in my machine for awhile.  Make sure to turn off the kinda cool 3D for a much more fluid framerate.

Resident Evil Revelations may be my favorite single player RE; great stuff for fans, more survival horror than straight action.  Great atmosphere.

SMT: Devil Survivor may be an acquired RPG taste, but this version has more content than the under-rated DS version.  I'm a fan.

Super Mario 3D Land is my favorite 3D Mario thus far, though the difficulty doesn't ramp up for some time.

Finally, the Ghost Recon game may not seem that interesting, but it's actually a turn-based strategy by one of the original X-Com creators.  Not as good as the new Fire Emblem, mind you, but it is fun, cheap, and overlooked.

Some of my suggestions, anyway. Smiley

I'll also recommend Adventure Time.  It is a short game, but I had a good time with it.

Fire Emblem: Awakening is my favorite 3DS title currently.

Resident Evil: Revelations is also another recommended title.  The game looks great and plays well.  The game is certainly playable with the single joystick, but I've been considering importing the Circle Pad Pro XL from Japan just to make playing the game a bit easier.

I also enjoy Mario Kart 7, although the AI can get incredibly cheap on the higher difficulties.

Star Fox 64 3D is a good remake of the N64 original, with a couple of added features/modes (that I admittedly haven't played).  The game also looks miles ahead of the original.

I'll also echo what slakur has said about Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars.  I haven't put more than two hours into it, but I had fun with it.

I also somewhat regret trading in my copy of Pilotwings Resort.  Although the game isn't terribly long or complex, it was a nice pick up and play game.

I've logged about 30 hours into Fire Emblem Awakening so needless to say that tops the list. New Super Mario Bros 2, Kid Icarus Uprising and Mario Kart 7 are must buys as well.

I own just about every 3DS game worth owning but have only played a small handful of them.  What I've played:

Luigi's Mansion (pretty good, but not great)
SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked (despite being a huge RPG fan, I just couldn't get into this one)
Shinobi (decent action game)
Super Mario 3D Land (probably the best Mario game I've played since Super Mario 64)
Bravely Default (just started this, awesome so far!)

I still have a ton on deck that I want to get to eventually, including Fire Emblem, Ocarina of Time, Link Between Worlds, Project X Zone, Mario & Luigi, etc., etc., etc.,......

Crabmaster got me hooked on Project X Zone. Before that, I was enjoying Mario and Luigi: Dream Team.

I'm having trouble putting it down. 50+ hours right now and I think I may be very close to the end.

Yet another 3DS title in my collection.  I'd like to play it soon, but who knows when/if I'll ever get to it.
