depending on which store you might have a gift card for
I'm curious to see how this turns out. My wife and I had considered an Apple TV but if this thing can do what apple TV does at the same price plus games, why not?

Of your 186 posts are any of them useful?
"OUYA FACTS" from the dropbox linked on their website:

Ouya Software including emulators... not sure how much trouble they will get in for that one...

List of OnLive games which will be compatible:

From Wiki:
"On July 19, 2012, Robert Bowling, former Creative Strategist at Infinity Ward, announced in a blog post[12] and through an update on the Ouya Kickstarter page[6] that his newly formed studio Robotoki would be the first developer to commit to creating a game exclusively for the Ouya. The game will be an episodic prequel to Robotoki's Human Element, a post-zombie-apocalyptic game scheduled for release in 2015.
On July 31, 2012, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy III would be made available as a launch title for Ouya.[13] On August 7, 2012, the developers of XBMC announced a partnership with Ouya to bring XBMC to the Ouya.[14][15] On August 8, 2012, it was announced that Namco Bandai was in discussions to bring their games to the system."

Android and Angry Birds are not the same thing. The Ouya is not about porting games that are available on Android tablets to a home console. Android is an operating system. That's it.
I won't fill this post with youtube links but there are plenty of videos demonstrating the performance capabilities and the user interface now that the developer consoles are reaching the developers.

OUYA sounds like a great idea on paper, but in execution? I guess we'll see. Of all the discussions I've seen about OUYA, the only "positive" thing people can say about it is that they can run emulators on it (if the best selling point about your platform is that piracy is easy, I can't wait to see how developers react to it).

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course. I just don't see how running emulators is the only positive thing someone can see about this venture.
$99 console with an open operating system that developers already know how to program for-positive
$0 licensing cost to a developer to make a game and put it on Ouya-positive
revenue slit-70% for developer, 30% for Ouya-positive
every single game will be free to try-positive
I totally agree with MercuryCrusader that EVERYTHING will depend on the execution, both on Ouya's part and developers (as is the case with any new console). But to be fair, pirating roms for retro consoles is no easier on the Ouya than it is on any computer with internet access.

The operating system is going to be the real selling point. If they can maintain the ability to promote/sell premium products efficiently and separate them from the chaff, I think it'll do well.

I'm interested in this mainly for the media streaming capabilities and emulator support. But I don't think I'm going to buy it at $100. I think it is awesome that Kickstarter has allowed for this to come to fruition, though.

Media streaming is towards the top of my list too. I'm cancelling cable this week.

I'm going to subscribe to NHL Gamecenter for my hockey and for everything else, we'll just get wherever we can. We really don't watch that much tv anymore.

Maybe I exaggerated with emulation being the "only positive", but folks haven't really mentioned too much about the one thing I care about with a machine like this: the games. You listed all those great positives, and hopefully developers will at least attempt to make stuff for it, but it being an open platform has the added downside of potential neer-do-welling. If the machine is a pirater's dream, I don't see developers sticking around for too long.
