It could just be concept art from The Last Story, but could the new image on Mistwalker's web site could be a tease for The Last Story 2?

As much as I loved The Last Story, I'll take a new ip any day.

Also, looking at that pic, Zael from the TLS was not the first thing that came to mind.

I wasn't thinking Zael specifically, I just thought the mood of the picture felt like The Last Story.  

The new ip vs sequel thing is a whole different discussion, I'm sure there would no no shortage of replies if someone started that thread or wrote a blog post about it.

it looks like a similar art style, but nothing in the content of the picture reminds me of TLS...

Just checked some comments on Mistwalker's FB page where this artwork is posted now as well and one person says

"This is the original Zael for the first version of The Last Story called "The Last World", it was too dark for Nintendo's liking so Mistwalker had to change the entire story."

No. This is The Last World as it turns out. The original concept for The Last Story. Nintendo decided it was too dark and had the game changed.

In fact one pic that has come out has Jirall sounded by baby fetus and what looks to be mindless followers behind him
