I remember the first time I heard Al was on the Dr Demento Radio Show.  This was back before he became MTV's comedy sweetheart. I had all of his cassettes up to the early 90's, then commenced with the CD's after that, and finally got to see him live a couple of years ago.  It was an amazing experience, full of wardrobe changes and classic AL TV clips.

The first maybe 7-8 albums I ever owned were Weird Al albums. I had absolutely no interest in music until my dad brought me home a tape with the UHF soundtrack and a few extra songs tacked onto it because he thought I might like it. I think he regretted how much I enjoyed it after that because we would rotate music on family road trips and my pick was ALWAYS Weird Al. In 3-D is probably my favorite album of his, but its pretty hard to choose just one.

I agree "In 3-D" is amazing.  Gonna Buy Me a Condo, Midnight Star, Eat It, Nature Trail to Hell, Mr. Pompeil, I Lost on Jeopardy, etc. Unbelievable.  That album was kind of his spring board IMO.  Don't get me started on UHF, I think I've bought that movie several times over the years for myself and friends.

Sincerely,

"Don't You Know the Dewey Decimal System"

Man, Mr. Popeil and Nature Trail to Hell where the only songs I listened to for like a year when I first discovered them!

I absolutley love his polka cover of Bohemian Rhapsody.  I've also listened to Alburqueque an embarassing number of times.

Also, if you've never seen this, you've missed out on so much joy.

He also comes up with original songs that do a bang-up job of satirizing the style of certain artists or groups:

Mr. Popeil: The B-52's

Dog Eat Dog: Talking Heads / David Byrne

Dare to be Stupid:: Devo

You Make Me: Oingo Boingo

"That's right. To Uncle Nutzy's Clubhouse. And boy-oh-boy, are we gonna have big fun today. We're gonna have so much fun, we'll forget about how miserable we are, and how much life sucks, and how we're all gonna grow old and die someday."

"Do you want my Styrofoam peanuts?"

That part kills me.

Didn't Al eventually voice Wreck-Gar in a recent TransFormers show?

Yep, IMDB verified.  So it must be true. Smiley

That was pretty funny. I still think it's like eight years late though.
