Genius.  I love this man.

Honestly he's my hero.  He takes the pretentiousness out of music and injects music with light-hearted lyrics about nothing important.  So many "artists" these days have a stupid message in their songs, or they want to be taken seriously.  Relax people.  It's just music.  Have fun with it.

Yep, me too.  Saw him in concert several years ago.  Surprisingly (or maybe not) a great show!  I remember buying Weird Al in 3-D when it came out.  This my favorite Weird Al song:

I have loved him since I was a kid.

Nirvana was probably my favorite of all time.  Or maybe Amish paradise.  But then again I loved his Micheal Jackson ones to.

To many good ones over the years.  Just when you think he has disappeared he comes back with a great song.

Although I don't dig him as much as I used to, his music is a big part of my early teen years.

And, as anybody who's visited the "Let's Sing" thread knows, I still know several of his tunes by heart.

In fact, I'm gonna head over there right now...

The first concert i ever went to was a weird Al concert.

Funny story, he was doing a gig in Seattle and the day before the concert he was promoting the show on our local afternoon/post soap opera gossip show.  A friend and i went to the crappy soap show just to watch them interview Al, and we ended up winning tickets to the concert!  Not only that, but after the crappy afternoon/post opera show ended my friend and i dashed out the front doors and caught Al before he climbed into his limo, and the dude signed my ticket stub Smiley  greatest day of my life.  He's a lot shorter than you might think, too.

While I thought Fat was his best video, his best moment in a music video was the backwards-running segment from Amish Paradise:

http://www.youtube.com/em...JAc?start=179&end=198

I thought he did a pretty good job with the lip-syncing here, considering the fact that he had to learn to do it "in reverse," for lack of a better way to describe it. Say what you will about the man, that there is dedication to the craft. Though he missed his mark a bit at the very end...

It isn't a Weird Al album without a polka.  Seriously, I think there would be riots on the streets if he skipped out on that part.

I love the polkas.  My favorites are the ones from the 80's, even though my greatest exposure to pop music was in the 90's.

I haven't listened to Weird Al in such a long time.  I believe the last new album I listened to was Straight Outta Lynwood.

The first maybe 7-8 albums I ever owned were Weird Al albums. I had absolutely no interest in music until my dad brought me home a tape with the UHF soundtrack and a few extra songs tacked onto it because he thought I might like it. I think he regretted how much I enjoyed it after that because we would rotate music on family road trips and my pick was ALWAYS Weird Al. In 3-D is probably my favorite album of his, but its pretty hard to choose just one.

I agree "In 3-D" is amazing.  Gonna Buy Me a Condo, Midnight Star, Eat It, Nature Trail to Hell, Mr. Pompeil, I Lost on Jeopardy, etc. Unbelievable.  That album was kind of his spring board IMO.  Don't get me started on UHF, I think I've bought that movie several times over the years for myself and friends.

Sincerely,

My first concert was Weird Al, it was at the Minnesota State Fair. The only album I've ever owned was Running With Sicssors though. Good Times Cheesy

Poodle Hat was a tad disappointing....but that didn't stop me from listening to it thousands of times.  By far the best song on that ALbum was this:
