the only thing i've ever really tried speedrunning was super mario 64...i don't remember the exact time but i finished it with the minimum # of stars in about 3 hours. not too bad considering i don't know any glitches for it and have never done a speed run before.

You can actually glitch it and do 1-star and 0-star runs now, not just 16.

Yeah some of the Mario 64 Speed Runs are insane now.

I know there is a TAS speed run that is faster than mine Shadow is that the one you are referring to, or did someone beat my TMNT time on actual hardware? Its not a perfect run and could definitely be cut down a bit more so all it would take is someone with some time to dedicate to it.

Siglemic, who's also on SRL, has the WR time for Super Mario 64 below 1:44:00 for 120 stars.
I mentioned to you before you did your run, but there were faster times posted on SpeedDemosArchive. I think the limitations though on TG were pretty silly, if I remember.

There are some games in which I'd agree that the limitations are odd or just downright silly. Didn't think so for TMNT though. If I remember correctly the rules were something like: "run starts when you hit Start on title screen/ends when final blow to Shredder is dealt, If you lost all your turtles the run is disqualified, don't enter the same building more than twice (to avoid spamming health/item respawning), show the game booting up". I don't have a problem with any of those restrictions. They are even pretty lax with the pausing rule since you have to pause to swap turtles.

Never liked the idea of a speed run/ To me take away the enjoyment f all the detail and care that went into making it and takes me out of the experience. NOt saying it's wrong to do it or anything. I just never enjoyed it

There are some games that I would never try a speed run on because of similar feelings to what your talking about. You'll never see me trying that on games like Mega Man 3 or Final Fantasy IX because I like to savour my experience in games like that. For games that I enjoy and want to find new ways to keep them interesting though I enjoy doing silly challengings like speedruns, starting weapon runs or no death runs.
