Anyone have a particularly impressive speed run?  A Youtube link would be great but just the name of the game and the time will suffice.

Nothing recent, but I just found my Dazzle capture card again. I've been meaning to get setup and start speedrunning again on SpeedRunsLive. Crabby owns the TwinGalaxies record for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on NES, though I know that's been broken outside of the TG setting.

Interesting idea, no archive of videos like Youtube, live speed runs with chat.  Bookmarked, thanks, Shadow!

There are archives - you have to go to the person's channel on Twitch.TV. It's just a dashboard for people that are on the SRL team on Twitch.TV. They also host races as well as the streams, which you can join via IRC.

I think there is this guy on the site named Crablord or something like that who has a world record recorded somewhere.

I tied and/or beat the GabbyJay KO world record but did not record it because i was not expecting it... Plus it was a ROM not sure if those are allowed.

The only other thing i ever tried to speedrun was DCK3. I don't have any recordings but i believe i have pictures of times uploaded in
The Arena
forum.

the only thing i've ever really tried speedrunning was super mario 64...i don't remember the exact time but i finished it with the minimum # of stars in about 3 hours. not too bad considering i don't know any glitches for it and have never done a speed run before.

You can actually glitch it and do 1-star and 0-star runs now, not just 16.

Yeah some of the Mario 64 Speed Runs are insane now.

I know there is a TAS speed run that is faster than mine Shadow is that the one you are referring to, or did someone beat my TMNT time on actual hardware? Its not a perfect run and could definitely be cut down a bit more so all it would take is someone with some time to dedicate to it.

Never liked the idea of a speed run/ To me take away the enjoyment f all the detail and care that went into making it and takes me out of the experience. NOt saying it's wrong to do it or anything. I just never enjoyed it

i meant minimum stars you can finish with legitimately, because i didn't use any glitches, just standard gameplay Tongue.

i never like the idea of doing it as the sole reason for playing a game. but i think most people that do it have played the game legitimately many, many times, and now they want to do something new with it. that's how it was for me attempting SM64

Siglemic, who's also on SRL, has the WR time for Super Mario 64 below 1:44:00 for 120 stars.
I mentioned to you before you did your run, but there were faster times posted on SpeedDemosArchive. I think the limitations though on TG were pretty silly, if I remember.

My speed run isn't impressive at all, but I was the first.  At least the first one to do a speed run of Ocarina of Time for Twin Galaxies.  I emailed their N64 referee at the time Robert Mruczek and he and I set up the rules to the speed run.  This was back in December of 2000 when I did the run and then talked to him again in August 2002 I guess.   I still have the emails from him.  I don't know if my tape was ever verified by Twin Galaxies so my time was never put on the leaderboard, then I moved for college etc etc.  I know my total tape time was a terrible 10 hours 37 min 14 seconds, but that goes to the end of the credits, not the "official" end point of when Link stabs Ganonon in the head.  Since then the that time has been blown out of the water.  I think it's under 5 hours now.  So I guess I set up the TG rules for completion but never actually got the record myself.  I wonder if they still have those two VHS tapes...lol.

I did Symphony of the Night in like a couple hours once. Didn't think to record it or anything. Was back when the internet was dial up.
