I'm sorry, I know this description is vague.

I remember playing a coin op arcade game in the mid to late 80s.  All I really remember about it was that it was side scrolling, it had a realistic look to it (can't remember if it had digitized actors or not) and it was in some sort of dungeon setting.

I think you were some sort of knight but you would only fight one opponent at a time.  Once you defeated one you would keep walking until you got to the next guy.

Again, I could be mis-remembering but if any of this sounds familiar, and hints would be appreciated.

There is a really good chance that this is it.  I remember the characters being more realistic, but it's probably just the way I was remembering it.  Thanks!

Yeah, back when graphics were still evolving and we were young I think our imaginations filled in the gaps.

When I was a kid I played the C64 version of Batman to death.

Then one day when I was over a friends house I saw the Amiga version and I was so amazed at how it looked so life like and remembered it that way until searching for it on the net one day.

See if anyone can dig this up...

I remember playing a mortal kombat clone in the early 90s.  The only character i can remember was a cyborg dude, and his victory pose was him firing two guns into the air.

Let's narrow it down a bit... arcade game, or home console?

Not sure exactly, but the rip-offs of the time I remember were Tattoo Assassins and Survival Arts?

Arcade.  The only place i ever saw it was at this one skating rink.  I have no idea if it ever went to a console

I just spent the last 20 minutes wading hip deep through so many miserable mid 90's "extreme" fighting games.  The only ones that I found that might be close are a bunch of the lame ass characters from Blood Storm:

 or Orion from Time Killers:

 .

The only problem is none of them fire a gun for their victory poses.  Jesus Christ there were a lot of really terrible Mortal Kombat clones back in the day.  I've got to track down copies of Timeslaughter and Pray for Death.  Pray for Death has Cthulu as a playable character for Gods sake.

Up your's Sauza, Time Killers rocks! I fondly remember going to a skating party at the roller rink. I promptly converted my entire $10 into quarters and went to town. The Genesis version sucked balls though.

Time Killers. Loved that game, just for the shear fact that I could cut limbs off with a chainsaw. Tongue

Could the game you're looking for be Bio F.R.E.A.K.S.?

Since BloodStorm was mentioned. I posted a pic of Johnny Cage playing it in the Random Photo Thread.
