So, I just got home from what was possibly the worst kijiji transaction I've ever made. I found a Dreamcast listed at a reasonable price, contacted the seller and after some back and forth emails decided to go through with the purchase.

I met the seller at their condo and inspected the console. Everything seemed to be in order, all cords looked like they were there. I asked again if the system works and got "Yeah, works fine. I tested it out last night."

OK, I thought. Let's do this.

Once in the car I checked the bag with the system again. Uh oh! Chewed power cord, incorrect AV cord, system that reeked of tobacco. Called the seller... no answer. Blocked my number and tried again... The seller's just stepped out to run some errands and won't be home until 3 (when I have to be at work).

Darn, I've been taken for a ride!

Has this happened to any one here?

Obviously, I'm not in the best of moods right now and just need to vent. GAH!

I bought a console with some games at a car boot sale. I can't remember what it was and I had never heard of it before. It was similar to the Atari 2600. The box had a note on it saying "Last used in 1978!" What I didn't realise is that was probably because it hadn't worked since 1978. The pins in the cartridge slot were completely mangled. I think it cost me £2 so no big loss.

Seller finally called me and said I can't get my cash back.  $50 down the zoomer.

You guys think that if I can prove that the console works I can sell the lot as a "video game grab bag" type of assortment? Maybe make at least $10 or $20.

I guess I should take this as an expensive buyer beware lesson

I bought a SNES from eBay before...
Console only and listed as not working. I won it for 99p with free postage.
When it arrived, I plugged it in to find it worked fine! Angry Wait, I guess that's a good thing... Cheesy

I had a similar experience when I was trying to sell a mountain bike. The dude said he was building schools in Africa or something and sent a "cheque." I looked at it and it said "Kamloops, DC (Kamloops is a city in British Columbia - or BC). Right away I broke off contact with the guy and tore up the cheque.

Oh yeah, Karma is a harsh mistress. I'm sure this woman! will get hers.

Probably needed the 50 for a drug fix.

It would be one thing if the seller said they hadn't tested it, but to lie outright is wrong.  I'd be angry if I were you as well.
