Thoughts on storing GB, GBA etc in DS cases.

Ok so I was debating this for a long time and finally just did it. I looked up printing companies in my area and picked a local mom/pop shop. It cost me .35 a copy and they turned out great. It was just a test run and since it turned out like I had hoped, I will be going back to print more out.

It quickly becomes a pain when you find yourself with several games that don't have covers, and the realization that the covers you need might not show up on the site for a loooooong time, if ever, because of the ultra-strict quality control requirements they have now. Your only choices end up being crawling the forums for rejected covers, making a request and hoping someone decides to take the time to pull through for you, or try and learn how to make it yourself. The latter two are especially difficult for more niche titles which may not have much in the way of quality high resolution source art available to work with.
Plus the case modding itself to fit the games is a huge pain imo, especially if you have a lot of games. Add to that the fact that DS cases are inevitably going to be phased out at some point down the line, and yeah. I can't really say I'm a fan of doing this anymore, despite being an active TCP member and such a while back.
On the flip-side though, it does look very nice on a shelf. If you're willing to deal with the downsides for that, it may be worth it.

It is a pain in the @$$ to modify the cases. But I don't actively collect GB/Color. So I would only have a small amount of games cases to make.

I'm with Quack... I used to be so hardcore about it, but it becomes such a chore to continually buy DS cases, cut them, find covers, print/cut them. After a while it's like "maybe cart-only isn't for me?"
That said, I recently found a pretty good supply of empty DS cases in my attic. I'm pretty sure ones that are pre-cut for GB but I'll check... just in case any of y'all need some.

I've got a few DS cases myself I wouldn't mind unloading for cheap.

I did this with a few of my GBA games, and I think it looks great. But it was a lot of work for something I don't even display anymore. I keep most of my GB/C/A games in a drawer anyway.

I've thought about doing this, but I'm a big GB Original collector. I have the Dremel tool to properly cut the cases, but it's just very time intensive. My issue has been finding a local printer that will actually make the printouts and print them in high enough quality. I want a higher stock then copy paper and a glossy coating. I'm even willing to sign an affidavit stating I'm a collector and will not be reselling these items, yet printers are declining me. Kinko's just about had a fit over it, even when I brought in a flash drive of my own designs and did it on a automated terminal without employee assistance.
At this point I'm buying GB original boxes when I see them cheap. I have a bulk of cardboard cartridge inserts and plastic box protectors. I plan on buying jewelers ziplock bags fitted as close as I can to holding a manual and a cartridge in it's clamshell case without much slack. Then I'll organize them in card file trays alphabetically until I eventually find boxes to complete them.
