So I put down the controller and went for a run today...

It was a long one.

Super long.

It was the Twin Cities Marathon.  26.2 miles! (42.2 km)

I decided to wear a new shirt today....

Sega does...

Spectators don't know my name and they usually cheer other runners by race number.  But today, all I heard was "Go Sega" or the classic "Se-ga" chime.  I must have heard it over a hundred times!

I'm a bit bummed that I finished a bit slower than last year, 4 hours, 1 minute, but that is still a solid time.

Anyways, that's my story.

Wow, that is really impressive! I don't think I could run around my block. Congrats on your run, and maybe Sega can be your new moniker in races.

props Oatbob! Shit, I've been playing some of my arcade style games standing up lately, just so I can feel like I'm not sitting on my ass all the time. And for me that's some kind of lifestyle improvement. Nevermind running a friggin' marathon. Good on you, dood.

Awesome job OatBob!  I need to get back into running.  It's been a few weeks.

My wife was late to work yesterday because her route was cut off by this marathon! Not cool, man.

Just kidding. Congrats! TC marathon has one of the most scenic routes out there, I bet.

On one hand, you're gettin' me motivated to get my chubby self back on the local hiking trails.

On the other hand, I'm reminded of the legend of very first marathon runner, who got the message to the powers-that-be of the Athenians' victory over the Persians at Marathon after running non-stop from the battle front...

...and then promptly dropped dead.

So, um, you don't have a death wish or anything, do you?  Wink

One of my Drill Sergeants would scream Sega!  at us during basic.  It really stuck with me, since he was great leader & a little intimidating, but won the Drill Sergeant of the Cycle Award at our graduation.  To this day, all I can do is smile at seeing the logo out in the world.  To see it at a sports event is just awesome.  Great job.

I did it again.  #4 for me.

It may not be game related, but I did manage to pick up some "hardware".

I ran to encourage a friend and a first-timer.  We finished at 4:59, just barely under her target.  The slower pace and the longer run (time, not distance) really whooped up on my body this time.  I had to really shorten my stride, and also keep positive.  Fortunately, she toughed it out at the hardest part and didn't give up.

Those medals sure look nice and shiny, and somehow appropriate with the shirt. Maybe you could put a copy of one of the Sonic Olympics games next to it? Smiley

Next time you need a pair of bright red Sonic-esque runners when you compete Smiley
