So the Wii U will be out on November 18th, with a $300 price point for the basic setup, and $350 for the "deluxe" set. The Nintendo direct had a couple surprises in it, with Bayonetta 2 being the most interesting bit for me.

So the release date is pretty expected, but what do you guys think of the price? Personally, I'm going to scrape up pennies for the deluxe set (hopefully at launch). Anyone else in on day one?

I bought the Gamecube on launch day, I waited in line for hours for the Wii, I will be there to get my Wii U on the 18th.  The Deluxe set most likely.  Time to start saving for it!

I'm going to pass. Nothing has wowed me enough to spring for it on day 1.  If I was to get one, I would definitely get the "deluxe" set, though.

I wish I was in town to do so myself. I looked on Amazon and I don't see a preorder yet Sad

I totally called the price point on the system. I had a feeling, all entities considered (system itself, Gamepad being AT LEAST $100, NintendoLand at least a $50 value) that it would be somewhere in the $300-$350 range. When you're good, you're good Smiley

I'll most likely preorder the Deluxe version since you are getting the most for your money on that deal, but it's not going to be right now. Too many other things to focus on at the moment. :-/

I think it is a good price point but I will not be getting one. Maybe if the wife wants one I would buy one but I dont think that will happen. Adam are you pre-ordering the 500 Limited Edition version I told you about?

That is just a placeholder price because they have no idea how much they will be yet.

And, yes, the gold Club Nintendo $500 LE is mine!

Glad you got one. When I saw how few they are making I figured you would want one.

Ok that makes sense. Makes me rest a little easier now. Thanks! I'll probably get the deluxe.

What does the launch line-up look like?

Decent to strong, depending on your tastes. It's all about Mario (NSMBWU) for me but some of the other games looks fairly entertaining. The deluxe pack-in ("Nintendoland") doesn't look to be as ground-breaking as Wii Sports was, but as a tech-demo, I won't dismiss it either. I wouldn't mind throwing the new Rayman game in my basket as well. The demo I saw looked really, really fun. Then there's the handful of typical Wii "sing-along" games I could just about pass right on by.

And yeah, the price point sounds about right. I can't see what the point would be going for the $300 configurations when you get some pretty good "extras" for the extra $50 (charger, pack-in, digital download points, etc.). I'm also intrigued what they're doing with the TVii setup - being able to search across different providers for your favorite shows and consolidating all TV control into one device is a good idea.

I haven't purchased a system at launch since the Sega CD but I might just have to get this one out of the gate. As I mentioned in the diary thread, my current Wii is suffering from a bad disk drive so at the very least, this will be its replacement. And besides, the Wii is the only system my girlfriend likes to play when we do game nights (save for trivia games and Portal 2 on the PS3.)

I'm still curious to see how my Wii downloads will transfer to the Wii U or if they're revamping the way online works.

I'll be in for a Deluxe Bundle. Super happy to see Nintendo Land included their. My days off just happen to fall on November 18th and 19th so I can see A LOT of Wii U getting played those days with probably my nephews popping in on Sunday to check it out and help me try out some of the multiplayer games with the maximum amount of players.

I'll probably grab one more game with it, just havnt decided which one yet. Pikmin 3, LEGO City Undercover and The Wonderful 101 all look great to me, my wife/son might push me towards NSMBU though. Also interested in grabbing Batman AC and Tank Tank Tank, but I'll probably wait until they price drop a bit first. And we will most certainly get Skylanders Giants, but it'll probably stay in the closet until X-Mas time for my boy.

I've heard that Amazon and NOA have had a feud because of Amazon receiving excessive amounts of 3DS returns due to faulty hardware.  So, it seems that Amazon themselves won't directly be selling the hardware.

I just noticed some of the games are listed as $99.99.  Really?

Those are just placeholder prices.  The games are supposed to range from $40-60, and I'm going to assume nearly all of them will be $60.
