I heard her shell can get half the size of a basketball. It really depends on her diet & her living space. She is in a really big terrarium and I'm sure we will have to figure out some other means of shelter for her down the road.

There are too many stray cats around & we don't have a fenced in area. Plus living here in Washington, it gets cold an awful lot. Maybe if I lived where you are or even in Texas.

When she gets bigger would cats mess with her? Could she live outside part of the year?

I think they still will. She doesn't hide in her shell often. She doesn't know danger & I know she wouldn't last very long. My wife & I talked about getting a kids pool and filling it with dirt & plants and watching her outside. I do take her outside to walk in the grass, but I keep a constant eye for predators.

I have a few pets. Two dogs, a lopped ear rabbit, and a beta fish (the thing won't die; it's like 4 years old now).

This is my pride and joy. I would seriously sell off everything I own to keep her. I bought her when she was 5 weeks old. She's going on 3 years now. This is my full blooded basset hound - Cleopatra:

This here is Franky. He's a full blooded corgie. We got him about 4 months ago when we moved so the Cleo would have someone to play with out in the yard. He's a pretty sweet dog. He's like 5 years old and VERY protective:

And this here is Oscar - the lopped ear rabbit. He's our indoor pet. We leave his cage open so he can come and go anytime he wants. He's VERY VERY tame. He will hop into the living room and jump on the couch and sit with you. He often sleeps behind the entertainment center or under the bed. This pic is of him under the bed (notice the poop pellets in front of him Tongue). He's about 6 years old:
