I dig how the NES zapper is the common ancestor of all the subsequent light guns, which eventually all branch back in and connect into the GunCon 3. I'm guessing this part of the evolutionary tree is considered "extinct," seeing as how there's nothing branching from the GunCon 3. Is this possibly due to the obsolescence of the CRT TV?

Looks like the Power Glove ended up being an evolutionary dead end, although it could be argued that it was an ancestor to the motion-control stuff that is fast becoming a standard feature of home video games.

I also noticed that the Wii U controller near the bottom, all by itself, with no branches leading to it from older controllers. Is the lack of branches intentional, or an oversight? Or are they still trying to find out how it properly fits into the evolutionary picture, and will do the branching after concluding their research?

Methinks I might be taking this thing a bit too seriously...
