Retro finds during vacation

I normally go to Hong Kong every year and last year I made a pretty good score and discovered some very cool game shops.
I found a boxed Famicom HK edition, a new and boxed Snow Bros. for the Japanese Gameboy, some Saturn games and a new Light Blue Game Gear Ninku edition.
The Game Gear came from a game shop which sold modern stuff and while I was browsing his shop my girlfriend spotted a box with some Gameboy games. I asked the guy if he had more old stuff and he started moving boxes and out came all the retro stuff. He had a new Sega CD and multiple new Game Gears plus a lot of games. I bought 3 Game Gears and some games. The cool thing was that the guy viewed his retro stuff as "old junk" so his prices were extremely nice.
Unfortunately I didn't pick up the Sega CD, but there is always next year
Another cool place I found was a shop which only sold retro games, it was tiny and filled up to the roof with retro stuff, the owner was literally build in his on store, I;ve added some pictures of the shop. Unfortunately the owner of this shop didn't view his items as "old junk", the shop was expensive.
Did any of you guys manage to ever pick up some good things during your vacations?

these pics look like my basement as I was moving in my new house
Thanks for sharing! I just got back from vacation, and we spent a week going everywhere from New Jersey to Toronto, Canada. A big part of any of our travels is retro game store hunting, and boy did we score this last week! 9 3DO games CIB, about a dozen GBA, some lovely import Saturn including Assault Suit Leynos 2 and Terra Diver, some A2600 games I was still hunting for, DS, GB, GBC, Master system, some guides, just a huge haul across five or six stores. Most were really cheap and I got to connect with some interesting store owners.
Good times.

I'm always on the look whenever I'm out of town or on vacation. I find small towns to be the best to find those little hidden treasures for cheap as they never seem to circulate out of the area.
Last year I was in a pawn shop in Corbin, KY. The pawn shop had most of the games priced at $2.99. They had tons of Genesis and N64 games that looked like they have been collecting dust for years. Picked up two copies of Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64), Populous (Gen), Sparkster (Gen), Wrestlemania 2000 (N64), GoldenEye 007 (N64), Outrun (Gen), Hybrid Heaven (N64), Gameshark ver. 2.2 (N64), Gunstar Heroes (Gen) and a few more games that I cant recall.
The owner just looked at me as I was crazy for buying all this old junk. He didn't even bother looking at the stacks of games, he just said that's $15. Those games were worth a few hundred dollars and I got them for next to nothing.

You should've been here earlier - Marriot_Guy sold his off for somewhat cheap. You may be able to follow up with him to see how he got his.

The Netherlands is seriously lacking stores selling retro games. When I visit the US, I think I will take at least two empy suitcases with me.
Another thing that happened to me in hong Kong was a few years ago. My girlfriend pointed at a weird looking console and asked what it was. I didn't know and forgot about the thing, untill I sat in the plane leaving Hong Kong going to Bali and ai flipped through the latest issue of retro gamer. They used to have a collector's guide and I saw the picture of the weird console, it was an Apple Bandai Pippin.... The collector in me tried to think of a reason to let the pilot turn the plane.
Should anyone ever have the chance to visit Hong Kong, grab it, because it's a great city also nice for some game hunting.

I love finding new game stores when I'm out of town, the first time me and a buddy when shopping in Des Moines via GPS was like exploring the Garden of Eden.

That looks really amazing.
You can always work trades with us in the States vitellius...
I have a conference to go to next month in Nashville, so in the evenings I'm definitely going hunting. Maybe I will have a good story after that. Fingers crossed.
