Hey guys, this is just a simple question to see where it all started for you. Think back, way back. What is the first game you recall playing. And how old were you if you remember? And what year was it?

This subject interests me to see what you guys remember playing for the very first time.

So I'll start out by saying that my first gaming memory came from the Sega Genesis. It was a Christmas gift from my parents to my older brother and me. It was the early 90's  I think it was Christmas of '93 when it came packaged with Sonic 2. Sonic 2 was the only game we had as it was bundled with the system.

As far a my memory serves me that is the first game I remembered playing. I didn't really have a clue what I was doing in the game as I was only 5 years old. But I can recall the rush I used to have simply because I had control over what I saw on screen. That was the biggest thing that got me into games at that time. Just the simple fact that I could command the screen to do what I wanted it to do was such an awesome feeling.

So whats your first memory?

Probably one of the following:

Mega Drive:
Chuck Rock
Columns
Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge
Mega Games 1
Paperboy
QuackShot
Sonic 2
World of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck

SNES:
Addams Family
Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Super Mario All-Stars

They're the first consoles my mum bought, second hand though.
The first game that I ever got was Hot Wheels Turbo Racing for the PS1. I got it for Christmas.

I actually remember my mom giving my sister and I money to play a Pong arcade game that got installed in a small diner we went to occasionally.  The first "home" game I played was on a Commodore PET at a friends house.  Don't remember the name of the game but it was a similar to Surround on the 2600.

Needless to say I am old!!!

i don't remember for sure but most likely either super mario bros, duck hunt, super mario bros 3, or teenage mutant ninja turtles. i would have been 3 or 4, i don't think my family had any consoles of our own until i was maybe 5 or 6 at the earliest, possibly 7. my grandparents had an nes at their vacation property though and i used to play that when we went on trips as much or more than i played outside.

We had an Atari 2600 around the house since as far back as I can remember. I think we had 2-3 games for it, but the only one I remember playing was "Iceburg" , which after being reminded several times by singlebanana is actually called Frostbite. That system didnt start my gaming lifestyle though.

The first game that rocked my world was watching my cousin play Mega Man 2 with his friends. I bugged my parents until we ended up with a second hand NES at home and a nice little copy of SMB/DH to call our very own Cheesy

I'm on the right with the cousin that got me into gaming. He brought his system to our place before we got ours.

I don't know if I can recall the "first" game I ever played, but my earliest memory is "Grand Prix" on the 2600.  My cousin had a system and my grandmother would always play with us.  I vividly remember her screaming in excitement every time she had an "electroshock" sounding wreck.  For those who have played it, you know what I'm talking about.

I can't really remember the frst game I played, but it was probably something on the SNES or NES.  When I was very small, my dad would sit me in a laundry basket while he played the SNES. Smiley

The first game I remember playing was U.F.O! for my parents Odyssey^2 back in '80.  I played the crap out of it until the game system mysteriously disappear on day after Sunday school (my old man hated the graphics on it).

i had that happen with a lot of my systems when i was young, my parents thought once we had the newest console that we would never play the old ones so they would always sell them without asking. we would come home from school to find only one system instead of 2 or 3.

that had a small role to play in my initial reasons to start going after old systems, i wanted to get back everything that my parents had sold off Tongue.

It was either Circus or Pitfall for the Atari 2600, I must have been around 4 or 5 years old

I know I was playing games before that, but it's the first one I could give you the name of.
