Sixth Law: Most complete Dreamcast collections are on burned discs.

I disagree

Thats actually true. And is also a good way to kill the GD ROM drive on your system quickly.

This debate will never ever ever end. If you are not educated on the subject you shouldn't be preaching this.

How about the 80% chance that boxed games will be missing the manuals?

I own 41 boxed NTSC Genesis games, only 10 of which are missing manuals, giving my collection a missing-manuals rate of less than 25%.

However, there just might be someone out there who has the same number of boxed Genesis games, and none with any manuals at all... though that'd be kinda weird.

Sixth Law: Most complete Dreamcast collections are on burned discs.

I'm gonna hafta concur with Tynstar on this one.

The way i see it, unless all the components of a collection are legitimate, what you have is an incomplete collection with bootlegged placeholders.

I found 6 boxed Mega Drive games today in a charity shop:
Sonic 1
PGA Tour Golf
Some other EA sports game I forgot the name of
Batman
Lemmings
Ecco The Dolphin

I only picked up the last 3, but out of the 6, only Sonic 1 was missing the manual.

I'd say out of all the Genesis game I have 2% are missing the manuals, but that's also because I avoid buying uncomplete so it's not much of a true stat.

Is that a complete NA set, or chunks of everything?

I imagine that games on the Genesis would have a much higher rate of CIB or cart & manual than many cart games due to the versatile case.  The Genesis games I have picked up while on The Hunt are either loose or CIB (with the majority CIB) everytime.

What's funny about the loose DC games sub-discussion is around where I live loose DC games were quite common until Gamestop ceased carrying them, then it dried up seemingly overnight

Fortunately, with your help, I knocked that one out last year. I've barely put a dent in anything though this year...

Seeing as how I've made objections to several so-called "Laws' of Sega, I figure it's only fair I add my own for you to consider.

There are two types of owners of the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on cartridge:

1) Those who have locked non-Sonic Genesis/MD games onto it, jammed the whole shebang into their console, and turned it on, and just to see if anything cool would happen,

2) those who have never done this for fear of shorting out the console, or something similarly bad happening.

Then there's this: Take your S&K cartridge, lock Sonic 2 or Sonic 3 onto it, connect that to a Genesis/MD Game Genie, and then pop that into your console, and you pretty much have the nerdiest Lego set ever.

Well, whattaya all think?

I've tried to see how many passthrough carts you can use. I think I topped out at 6 before they fell over.
