On April 10th 2019, the first ever picture of a black hole was released to the public. It was from the galaxy M87 (55 billion light years from the Earth) and was around the size our own galaxy and 6 billion times the mass of the Sun. Astrologist, due to the limits of refraction, had to use 8 telescopes pointed in the same general direction, taken to account the rotation of the Earth, in order to produce the image. Even then. despite its size, due to its position, the event horizon, only consisted of 50 micro arc seconds (taken with a lens that was proportional to the size of the Earth, using the method of multiple telescopes), hence why the image ended up being as blurry as it is.
