:This battle has been raging for awhile now and i keep myself in the middle of it and own niether system.
I just read an interesting news article and remembered this quote

The end of this article sums it up really.

At $150 a pop, Nintendo has sold more than 5 million DS units worldwide. But the PSP, which costs $100 more, took over the limelight with its all-in-one entertainment system that allows players to watch movies, listen to music, play games and view photos. Since late March, Sony has sold more than 1 million units in North America and shipped almost 3 million units worldwide.

That's a load of horsecrap, I have friends who work in Major Media Outlets (Media Play, Best Buy) And both them firmly attested to the fact that the PSP is selling like dogcrap.
I believe when the GC sold like crap Nintendo also used the word "shipped". Clever marketing in covering up the true sales of the system. Don't believe everything the media says, their goal is to increase readership and profits, and most will do anything to gain that.

Yeah, saying that an item has 3 million units "shipped" means exactly nothing. Think of the R-Zone. That thing had plenty of units shipped, but all they did was collect dust on shelves and do anything but sell. PSP is by no means an R-Zone, but number of units shipped tells nothing on how well it is actually being SOLD.

The Neo Geo Pocket also had lots of units 'shipped', which were quickly sent right back.

I will play both sides of the argument for fairness sake.
PSP sales high
http://www.psppro.co.uk/c...lesfigures/9/article.html
http://www.dsnews.co.uk/n...ws-readmore.php?story=288
(just under 3 million units sold as of April 28)
http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4723
http://psp.ign.com/articles/572/572696p1.html
(85% of 200,000 units sold in Japan)
PSP sales lacking
http://techdigestuk.typep...5/04/psp_sales_figur.html
Well this did turn out one sided. I won't lie. I couldn't find anything all that recent in support of DS.
I don't count Nintendo out though. I think PSP sales will slow too. But even if PSP and DS sals are a straight 50/50 shot Sony wins.
PSP is selling for 100 bucks more per unit and much of its software is selling for more. Not to mention memory cards and other peripherals people are buying for thier PSPs.

You'd think that with so many unsold units on the shelf, Sony could release the thing in Europe a bit earlier. Last release date I heard was SEPTEMBER. I guess Europe doesn't really count when it's about selling videogames (despite a much bigger potential market than Japan and the USA).

Maybe Sony will let us wait as they Sony Europe is not allowed by the EU (hey the only good point about it) to forbid the releases of cool 2D games. While a lot of games like Metal Slug 3 were not allowed to be released in the USA, we got them here. So maybe they want to punish is for getting good games.

Well I didn't read most of the posts but I did play the DS warioware (while my friend was trading in all his ps2 stuff for a PSP). I almost bought me a DS then and there, it's like they made the DS for Warioware. Incredibly fun.
