In Resident Evil, you explore a creepy mansion filled with zombies and other dangerous creatures.  You must kill (or avoid) the enemies while solving puzzles, collecting key items, and ultimately putting an end to Umbrella's scheme.  Resource management is important, as ammo, healing items, and even the ink ribbons used to save the game are limited.

Platforms
GC/Wii
PS3/PS4/X360/XBone/PC (via HD remaster)
PSX/Saturn (not recommended due to content differences)

Participants
Disposed Hero
GrayGhost81

Checkpoints
Week 1 - Obtain the Serum
Week 2 - Obtain the Helmet Key
Week 3 - Obtain the Stone Ring
Week 4 - Finish the game

It's been pretty dead in here (no pun intended), but I went ahead and updated the OP with the checkpoints for the entire month.  This is another one of those games that I would recommend just playing at your own pace.

Played it before a couple of times on gamecube and PS1. A brilliant game. Maybe the best resi evil game ive played (though ive not yet got around to 4).

Got to love those live action cutscenes in the ps1 version. Maybe the worst ive ever seen

I've always considered REmake to be my favorite in the series, but having just played RE4 again recently, I'm really torn between the two.  It's also really hard to compare them because of how different they are.

Wow. This play through is quiet.

If anyone hasn't played this game and has any interest in horror or even puzzle (not the Tetris variety!) games, then give it a go. It's an absolute classic

Tried playing this on GameCube, but got turned off by tank controls.  I am enjoying the PS3 remaster so far.

I tried to go back and play the GC version, but graphically it was so blurry and cloudy looking that I had to upgrade to the HD remaster.  I know I'm in the minority here, but I still really like the tank controls.  The new control scheme just felt awkward and clumsy, like there wasn't enough weight behind it.  The slightest tilt of the analog stick would send your character off in unintended directions.

Just thought I'd post these:

I played through the game 3 times during this playthrough, but my PS4 only took screenshots of my first two runs (because of the trophies).

The newer HD remaster offers an 'alternative' control scheme if you were put off by the controls of the GC version.  I prefer the original controls, but a lot of people prefer the new control scheme.
