As collectors most us have the same games on different platforms for many of the older systems. Genesis/SNES, Playstation/Saturn, Playstation/N64, Atari 2600/Intellivision, that sort of thing. Does anyone buy the same games across platforms on any of the current consoles?

I currently only have 2. Medal of Honor: Frontline, had it for the Gamecube, just picked it up for Xbox for when my friends come over for Halo nights and Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. I got the PS2 version during the Circuit City $5 blowout, forgot I already had the Gamecube version. I'm sure I'll have many more in the future when they are dirt cheap but for now one platform is enough.

I dont do it for current systems. It is one thing when a game is under 5 bucks and you get it for different system. Total different when you are paying 30 of more for a single game.

I always get games for the X-Box  if  it is out for 2/3 of the current systems.

I used to do this for playstation and saturn games, so I could see the differences. I sold most of my playstation games though. I think I only have Tomb Raider left for both systems.

I have some more unintentional doubles as well. Most of them are different enough from each other though.

Most of the time, if a game is on multiple consoles now, I get it for Gamecube.  In terms of older games, I don't mind having multiple copies of a game on different systems.

I'll do it for older systems, but not for newer ones.  They cost too much.

I think i have a few games across modern consoles because they were gifts or very cheap.
But like everyopne else said it costs to much money to get them all.

I hardly have any games at all that were released later than Dreamcast, so my most recent cross-platform pairs are probably Nintendo 64-Dreamcast or PlayStation-Dreamcast.  I could get plenty of PS2-Dreamcast pairs too, since so many unnoticed Dreamcast games got re-released on PS2.  Arrrr.

I almost did it with NFL 2K3, but for some reason I passed on a brand new 1.50 copy of the PS2 version during the TRU clearance.  I wish I knew why.

I briefly had a game cube, but like with the N64, the evil desginers at Nintendo seem to want to make controllers designed to piss me off.

Anyway, I bought SSX Tricky, as I had it on the PS2, and loved it, saw it cheap, and thought it would be a good bench mark to compare the machines. Even though I was an uber master on the PS2 I sucked on the gamecube

I have Doom for most platforms, but only really play it on the PS1

Good point with Tricky THX.

I had MK Deadly Alliance on GameCube and played it alot on PS2(didn't own it yet) the control layout was terrible for the game.
It seemed physically impossible to pull off some of the button combos.

If a game is on all 3 systems GCN is generally the worst of them for controller layout  if nothing else.

I've got a buddy of mine that would argue with you for days about that.

He/she is the only person i have heard of that prefers the GCN layout for games than the PS2 and/or Xbox counterparts.

On a slightly different note, I keep trying to play the PS1 Medal of Honor games, but I just can't get my head round the controllers.

Try as I might, I never feel happy, and so often  I stumble, and stop to look down at the controllers, and die.

I mean, I kinda suck on Final Doom for the PS1. I am happy though, as I know it's just me on a learning curve. The controls are beautiful.
