I haven't picked these up yet but I know they are Lucas's anniversary editions and not the original theatrical releases. It would be cool to have them on DVD with the improved sound and picture quality but I'm not too keen on all the extra "improvements".

I did see all the anniversary versions when they were in the theaters a few years ago. I guess they were cool but all the extra scenes and CG were a bit much for me. they weren't the Star Wars movies I grew up with. I mean we never actually got to see Jabba till Jedi in the original versions.

In the DVD releases even more changes were made. Lucas even changed the ghost of Anakin Skywalker at the end of Jedi to be Hayden Christenson, what the hell?

When ET came out on DVD Spielberg's updated version AND the original were included on the DVD's. I don't know why Lucas couldn't have done the same. Come on George, throw a bone to your legions of Star Wars purists.

has anyone else picked these up?

Den this is for you. There are others who feel the original should be left alone too.

You know why he didn't release the originals as well as the redone ones?  Because if he did, then no one would buy the 36 disc super special lucky 777 version that is sure to come out.

I'm still gonna buy it though.  Slightly different Star Wars is still better than no Star Wars at all.
