I know this is probably frowned upon but looking at Saturn games on ebay they are going for upwards of $300.  I would like to play some of these games without taking out a second mortgage on my house.  Can someone point me in the right direction on where to get a mod chip?

Awesome.  Thanks for the heads up.  I found them on http://www.segastyle.com/store/ for almost half price but he's out of stock.  maybe I'll wait.  I don't know if I need a universal or SSIC8B yet.

Yeah - I just checked racketboy since I knew they had them (and to plug another collector-enthusiast site - hi noise!)

If and when Brad gets them back in stock I would highly recommend him. I actually sent my Saturn to him for the mod service. I wasn't confident enough to do it myself.

I was a little nervous to send both my Saturn and a money order to a stranger but he kept in constant contact as to what was going on and I was very happy with the results.

Sweet.  He just emailed me that he'll have them in stock next week.  I'm usually decent at modding but soldering Im not too sure about.  How much did he charge for the whole service??

It looks like it's $65 now:

If I remember correctly that includes shipping back to you only. It took about a week total.

After I got my Saturn modded I spent more money on games during the first year than during three years of PSX ownership, so please keep that in mind (importing Saturn games gets very addicting).  While I understand that is not why you are getting one, I would like to hopefully instill the some soft of thought into your mind.

Well, when you buy D&D, you've already spent more than people would on their PSX library.

Wait, these mod chips don't defeat the region lockout too, do they?

WHy not just get a Action Replay cart? Less money and can play any import with zero hassle.

They won't allow you to play backups, which is the main point of getting a modchip (which doesn't defeat the region lockout anyway).
