I have 18 CEDs. I just bought 17 from a guy on Craigslist that thought they were Laserdiscs.
Same thing happened to me, more or less, at my local Goodwill. They had just put out a RCA Selectavision, a model SJT 100, along with 15 discs, all for a grand total of $19.50. I walked up and the woman who had placed it all on the shelf turned and asked, "You interested in a Laserdisc player?" Looked, saw what it was, and immediately said "Oh, yeah, I am."
As for your problem, Possum: Just did a quick search on eBay just to see what they had. Only stylus listed separately was going for $45 BIN
, and the cheapest actual player is up to $40.29 (with S&H added, 1 bid so far, and almost 5 days left to go
), so yeah, definitely a good call not going the online route. As as hard as these things are to find, just parts or complete, I'm afraid it's gonna take you quite a while to find what you're looking for. This is definitely a great example of a "Patience Is A Virtue" kind of situation, but I wish you the best of luck in this endeavor, and hope you report back with some good news.
