Hi Jason,
I have a copy of Vagrant Story with the correct SKU. However, what's the deal with the difference in the SKUs? I remember there being a game-breaking save bug in the original release of Vagrant Story, but I'll be damned if it's noted on the internet anywhere.

Hello!

I actually just tracked down the "ends in 7" one. It turns it is a Canadian variant that includes a French Manual as well as the regular one.

Interesting - that matches the other owner here, who's a Canadian member. Mine was nabbed in a Gamestop back in 2003, so it wouldn't surprise me that the French manual would be missing. Thanks for reporting back Jason! I'll update our database accordingly.

Yep - that's Jason Dvorak, better known as Dangerboy across the many forums he's been on over the years, and a huge contributor here for our PS1 NTSC database. You'll notice his credits all over the PS1 pages, as he was gracious enough to contribute his site's information (http://www.game-rave.com) here.

Jason, if you're interested, Defconsoft was also gracious enough to give me an Excel dump of his site for Euro PS1, and I've got a project to tackle on submitting all of the JP PS1 items to our database. We'll see where that ends up landing us on total # of PS1 games released so far. Care to take a stab at the # we end up with?

Thanks for all the kind words!

Shadow - god help you! That number is going to be completely whack-tastic due to having to figure in variants (Defconsoft is crazy like me).  Non-Variant speaking, US had 1280ish, and Japan had like what, 3,000? Add in all the regional differences for the UK, that excel sheet is going to be at least 10,000 lines of PSX with all the variants included.

You're a better man than I. Wink

Actually, while I'm up fighting off stomach pains, there are now several confirmed Canadian variants for the PSX, no clue if their in the database along side the Vagrant Story.

- A Formula 1 game has a Canadian flag and alternate car on the cover
- Vagrant Story (duh)
- Final Fantasy 9 had a Canadian flag on the back, more than likely is a French manual (unconfirmed on the actual content difference)
- Final Fantasy Chronicles (Working on the way to tell...)
- Final Fantasy Anthology (rumored, based on Chronicles)
- Pizza Hut Demo Variant - the Canadian Version has a wider Envelope and some layout differences...

Ja!

Ja!

We have...
Animaniacs Ten Pin Alley (UPC Manufacturer ID# different...perhaps not Canadian, and instead different publisher?)
Final Fantasy IX (Different UPC, French & English Manuals and French Back Insert): http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-061-S-04131-A
Final Fantasy IX GH (Different UPC, French (B&W) & English Manuals and French Back Insert): http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-061-S-04131-B
Final Fantasy Origins (Different UPC (Sticker over US UPC), French & English Manuals): http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-061-S-04141-A
Grudge Warriors (Different UPC)
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (That's from you! With no UPC information Sad)
Playstation Demo Disc: Spring 2000 (Wal-Mart): http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-061-S-14581-C

I'll see if aeroc has any of the others you mentioned - he's our resident Canadian PlayStation collector, though he usually picks up imports instead of local items for the most part.

EDIT: UPC for Animaniacs isn't well-formed - 549849847461 should end in a 4. However, that UPC is for a coupon, so I suspect that it was part of a bundle for the person that submitted it. Sad

Also, I'm currently buzzed on Samuel Adams.   I'll get the info I can for you tomorrow.

Sweet, thanks! I'll submit it under your name. Also, enjoy the Sam Adams!  drool
EDIT: SLUS looks wrong - shouldn't it be SLUS-01417, due to the name change for the Canada region?

I have absolutely no problem auditing your information, as long as the UPC is correct. Past that, the other information can be tracked down. Tongue

Incorrect/Missing UPCs are the bane of my existence, since it appears to be anathema for everyone on the internet to provide these things unless they're collectors or anal about their photos/auctions.

Okay, a follow-up on Grudge Warriors. There's a serious mess-up that I can't adjust all of it from the submission side.

Essentially:
- The USA Version entry had the wrong retail barcode (PAL), *that* I corrected in the Database.
- The "Canadian Version' entry was the American Retail barcode, and currently does not exist, apparently. It should be removed.
