Ok, so my main objective for a couple months now has been trying to find nice display cases, be it sega or nintendo. well on ebay, forums, etc ive been out of luck. Randomly stopped at a new consignment shop here in my town today and BAM! freakin sega display case right there, being used for jewelry. i didnt offer the lady anything because i didnt want to shoot under or over, and im sure she has no idea what she has anyways. Ive been looking everywhere and i cant believe i found one less than 3 miles from my house in a random hole in the wall thrift store. So guys, i need help. im gonna go make her an offer tomorrow morning when it opens. I dont know what to offer though. i definitely dont want to overshoot mainly. A guy over on nintendoage has recently, oddly enough, asked for a price check for this exact same case, but no one responded in that thread. Heres the thread, so you can see what it looks like.

Please send me a message, or just post in here if you have even the slightest relative idea of what a possible retail value is for it, and what i should pay for it. I dont want to pay too much, and i could end up doing that because i want it so badly.

Display cases pop up so infrequently that finding a good retail average is difficult. The Nintendo ones seem to go for a few hundred, less if its in worse condition and/or missing anything. Sega might not be as expensive since there are not as many diehard Sega collectors hopping around. Maybe you can try asking the people at Sega-16 though?

Man I want that. I love Sega stuff. If it's a hole in the wall thrift store they probably have less of a clue than you do and probably don't expect much for it anyways. I'd nit-pick at any flaw to reduce the price. If I were to ask a price judging from the pictures I would start off at $75. I wouldn't pay more than $125 as much as I would want it. But that's just me. Good luck finding a fair market value price for it.

thanks for some input guys. In my mind im definitely willing to pay more than 125, but i certainly would not like to. Display cases are so tough to come by, like you said psycho, that i feel like i have no choice but to buy it whatever the price. the fact that its so close is mind blowing to me, as ive struck out online, and i dont even have to worry about shipping or anything. lets hope i have a post tomorrow morning with pictures of my new sega display case. also, if anyone else can chime in id still love to here some opinions.

Display cases like that are beautiful things. I'm not sure what the going rate is for them, but I'd be willing to pay up to $500 for one myself.
