I did a little bit of research on my 6 spare NES consoles, and there are a few slight variations I've found.
The differences are copyright years on the board, the board's part #, and the number of screws holding down the shield. The boards also seem to all have the same components, just slightly reorganized.

Serial #          Copyright         Board Part #         # of screws
N20170596       1986               NES-CPU-04             7
N0722522         1986               NES-CPU-04             7
N10601195       1987               NES-CPU-04             ?
N2750626         1987               NES-CPU-06             7
N12358433       1987               NES-CPU-07             7
N27335096       1987               NES-CPU-10             7
N21630969       1987               NES-CPU-10             7
N27290693       1987               NES-CPU-10             7
N30328117       1987               NES-CPU-11             7
N14277583       1989               NES-CPU-08             8
N28859435       1987               NES-CPU-11             7

I'm trying to find a pattern between the Serial # and the copyright and board part #, but I don't have enough consoles info, I've got 4 more systems to check, but I'll still need more, so anyone with an NES I would appreciate it if you could check your system for these criteria.

Feel free to add those to all of the U.S. NES console pages under the "Revisions" tab Smiley

Serial #            Copyright     Board Part #     # of screws
N30328117      1987            NES-CPU-11            7

I'll check my other two when i get a chance.

(When messing around with your nes always unplug it then press the power button on and off a couple off times.)

Could only get to one of my NES for now.
Not sure on the number of screws it could be 7 it could be 8 but i took this apart so long ago i don't remember anymore.

What made you decide to check this all out?
Logical123 made a thread about NES console variants and I told him there were differences in the number of screws holding down the shield, as that was one I knew of off the top of my head.
And then I happened to be taking apart several NES systems to clean and noticed the different other stuff on them. I tried to find a pattern relating the serial # to the copyright year or board #. But I didn't have enough to find a pattern, so I made a post in Logical's thread and eventually it got moved to a separate thread.

And thanks to those who have contributed to this, it's much appreciated.
