Nice find in the trash

So, I'm on my way to school the other day (the day the site went down) and casually glanced at a pile of trash, notice a goldish-yellow box on top and carry on. A couple seconds later, it pops in my head "holy shit, that was an NES" so I turned around and sped back to make sure. Sure enough, a nasty, dirty golden NES was sitting on top of the pile. Underneath was a basket of random wires and some other junk and next to that was a box of smaller boxes, I thought they were all VHS tapes at first, but realized they were Genesis games. So I put both boxes in my truck and went to school. I got to school and immediately started going through the boxes, but I had to stop because 1) people were staring and 2) I had class to get to. Fearing that someone might steal the stuff I took it out of the bed and put it in the cab despite the dirtiness of it.
All in all it was a mix match of 80's and 90's memorabilia. A few G.I. Joe's, a Star Wars guy, some Wrestlers (The Iron Sheik and a USSR guy) and the complete Highlander series on VHS and off course a ton of Genesis games, some NES games, and a DK64 controller cover. I haven't compiled a list of the games yet, but I did snap a couple pictures of the stuff before I cleaned it.

And in case you can't tell the stuff is dirty, a close up of the NES

The back of that NES is a fine golden color that fades into the grey of the front, it's kind of neat looking actually. It's all cleaned up now, inside and out. I rebent the pines, cleaned all contacts, replaced the LED with a really bright blue one and now it works like new. Amazing since it was obviously flooded evidenced by the sediment that was inside.
I had to toss a few manuals and boxes, but the games look mostly salvageable.
Anyone ever see those N64 game cases before? I've seen a ton of the NES ones, but never the N64 style.

Nice, free stuff rules!!! Good eye on spotting that. I picked up my NES Deluxe box that way. I was driving down the street and saw it out of the corner of my eye. I had to go back and see if my eyes were playing tricks. The box was empty but in nice shape. The next week I went down the same street and saw something white on top. I figured it couldn't be but I figured it would be worth going back and sure enough it was the packing styro from the deluxe box.

Yea i've seen those N64 cases.
I think they were only available thru Nintendo Power i could be wrong.
Is that a Genesis 4 controller adapter?
I've only seen a couple of those before(all were made by Electronic Arts for sports games.)

Yep, I never realized such a thing existed. This is an EA one too.

can't beat a nice trash pick... that's how my record collection got started.
I got a bunch of those N64 boxes at Meijer. I don't recall seeing them anywhere else.

The best kind of find is a free one. Awesome haul, I'm truly envious of your capture from the hunt.

It's in the trash, it was badly water damaged and most of the tapes were full of mud.

I found one of my 2600's in the recycle bin while I was going to school in Morris. It's the only one of the three 2600's I have that work

I was going to suggest you find a copy of General Chaos and Mega Bomberman for the Genesis to make good use of that Genesis multitap, but I checked your profiled first and saw you already had both of them. I hope you have had some wicked good games of General Chaos with it!
