Greetings from all of us at RF Generation! We hope that the holiday season has been good to you so far, and don't forget about the hard partying still to come in five days! Today brings the second RF Generation Newsletter, and it is intended to give you, the members of our community, the ability to see where the site is and where it is going.
First, let's talk about our staff. Our staff is a wonderful group of people, but the current setup leads to certain parts of the site being neglected. As such, we have begun the process of restructuring our staff. We have promoted 4 people to editor positions. Each editor is in charge of making sure that a certain part of the website continues to grow. These editors are:
AndyC: Hardware Editor
captain_nintendo: US Editor
Mezmoron: Features Editor
Speedy_NES: European Editor
It is the job of these 4 people to make sure that the site grows in their respective areas. We are grateful for their commitment to make RF Generation THE classic and modern video games database. However, we are going to need more than just these four editors to continue to make the site what it is. As such, we are as of today officially accepting applications for people to join our staff. If you have a desire to help out with this labor of love then I recommend that you read about the open positions at
this thread. We hope that if you have the desire to help continue to make this site great, or better that you check out that thread. Please note that a submitted application does not guarantee a position.
Let's speak now of new features. The masses have been asking for a RF Generation Chat, and so we will give the people what they want. The RF Generation chat is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, January 8th, 2007 at 8pm EST, and will hopefully will be a weekly occurrence. Perhaps in the future we'll move the chat to a different day that would allow for an earlier time, thus allowing our European members to sit in without jeopardizing their Tuesday, but for now this is the time that our host, shaggy, has said he is willing to do, and we are ever grateful for his willingness to do so. What will the topic du jour be? Stay tuned for that.
The other new feature to speak of today is that there are now options for when you make submissions. Do you hate having to always enter your name or password? Well, I know I do, and if you want to not always have to enter your password or name you should change your settings
here. I know there are only two settings there currently, but in the future some customization options regarding the collection system will show up there too. So customize away, however little options there are currently.
There are a lot of things cooking currently at RF Generation. From a new system for regional variants to customizations to the collection software, to back end work, to maybe even a store stay tuned -- there is always going to be more when you keep it tuned to channel three.
