It really is a kick to the groin for old skool gamers like me and my new gf (now I got a girl that will play with my Saturn collection rather than bitch about it  Grin)

I'll be out right honest here, I wish Sega would of kept pumping all their money and effort into the Dreamcast, if the Dreamcast was going to die, they should of gone down with the ship. Why? Because back then, that was Sega..... now it's just a company with the rights to the great games the real Sega had created. Today's Sega hasn't got a soul so don't be surprised when this kind of thing happened. The fact Sega is just a money making company these days rather than true gamers like us bringing our gaming dreams to life is shown by their merger choice. Namco expressed an interest, and was even willing to become SEGA. Yep, even though Namco was with us for years, they were willing to get absorbed by Sega. Imagine, the Fighters Megamix that would of spawned! But no, they only were interested in money.

Screw the Sega of today, and long live the glory of the old Sega empire!

Oh yeah, like the old SEGA used to not care about making money.  Tongue Companies exist to make money, not games. You could maybe argue that the individual developers were there because they wanted to make games, but not the company.

My argument is if the old Sega was in it just for the money, they would of given up after the flop the Master System was outside Europe, never of released the Mega-CD, 32x, or kept the Saturn going as long as they did as it wasn't generating profit. Smiley That arse clown Bernie Stolar they put in charge of Sega of America saw it as just  a business though, and killed off my beloved Saturn.

You can tell the difference to if their heart and soul is there or not. Sega use to be the creator of great games, now they publisher others games along with their own so 'n' so titles they make these days.

My god.  I, I actualy agree with you.  Well, not completely as in this case the companies make money off making games but for the most part I do!  This is a first, and probly the last for a good time but, wow.

Sega from everything I've read over the past number of years had little say in who bought them out.  That's the thing.  It's called a buy out where the large company buys up all available stocks and merges the little one into itself.  The problem with this is they also aquire all the debt created from the little company.  The good, they gain what ever properties said lil fry has.  What with Sega's out of control loss from the Dreamcast's last year, they were that little fish.

Somehow I doubt Sega would have wanted to merge with anyone.  They had a great system, they had great games, they just didnt have as much customer suport as they felt they should.  That bit them in the ass and now we are paying for it with lackluster releases.
