I stopped in one of my old local haunts and one of the guys working said that the boss might be interested in having someone sell stuff for them on eBay again.

So my questions are for those who have experience in selling things on eBay for other people/stores/etc
Is it a good idea?
What percentage should I charge from sales?
Should i get my cut before ebay/paypal fees, shipping and cost of shipping materiels?
Any other pointers?

Finally... would i be better off trying to purchase from them and then listing for myself?

Thanks in advance guys Smiley

I have done this in the past except I sold a couple cars, motorcycles and boats for family. I charged 20% and everyone seemed fine with that. I never had to ship anything but I always told them what the exact ebay fees would be before doing an auction. When an auction closed I would take my cut from the final value minus ebay and paypal fees. I personaly don't like selling on ebay so I seldom sell anything that I own on ebay but I don't mind listing for other people.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Actually it does.
I was thinking of asking for 30% and letting them know i don't want to sell anything new(i think their profit margin on new is 20 or so percent.)

Also should i start a seperate account specifically for their items?

I would if you sell alot on your own. Makes it easier to distinguish between yours and theirs.
