I've just purchased a double disc FFII/Chrono Trigger set for PSX. I've only played FFII on SNES for a rental period on SNES when it came out. I looked at the back of the PSX version and it says it has; new magic, new items, new monsters, new features, etc.

Is this game much different than the SNES version? Is the difficulty easier?

I believe the PSX version had a rewritten translation since the original SNES translation was kinda wonky (spoony bard, anyone?).  I also believe that the PSX version is more difficult than the SNES version, which was originally "dumbed down" for the American audience.

You should be able to see the differences between all versions here:

Thanks DH, sounds good. I'm surprised it's more difficult because I know the Phantasy Star remakes (horrible btw) that are on PSP are easier because it was "dumbed down" for the youngsters.

"Removed Japanese weapons, items and abilities restored." I guess that's the "new" items and weapons, etc. Sweet.

One of my best friends is the Symphony of the Night master. He is #1 in the world (non-cheater) on the Xbox Live leaderboards and has explored rooms that don't even exist. He owns it on every system including the JP Saturn. I could ask him any question you'd like.

IMO - the JP Saturn is the best version because of the extra rooms that don't exist in any other version.

Dez - mecharichter? Met him through a few different friends and watch him speedrun every so often, though the speedruns for SotN have changed significantly lately due to the heart refresh glitch.

No, FeelTheMadness. He doesn't have any videos but he was the #1 non-hacker for a long time. He has a complete strategy guide, walkthrough, speed run, glitch FAQ implanted in his brain  Smiley
