So, I bought a fancy soldering station from an acquaintance, a JBC DI 3000.  Came with a DA 8245 sleep stand, 2245 iron, and 4 extra tips.  I had some projects in mind and the little cheapo Radio Shack one I had wasn't cutting it.

First project was to replace my Pokemon Ruby's battery....

After that turned out fairly well, I decided to give making my own Jaguar AV composite cable a try...

Work in progress...

And where I ended up until the rest of the crap I need to make it arrives...

Updates!

Found an RCA Composite in a box of cables, so screw waiting for the new ones I ordered, onward!

A little electrical tape wrap for insulation between contacts.

Soldered the chopped off and stripped ends of the RCA cable to the leads I soldered to the card edge connector

MORE TAPE!

The action shot...

The money shot!  It works!

It may not be pretty, but it gets the job done.

I'm actually pretty damned new to soldering. That's maybe the third time I've soldered anything outside of fixing power ports with cracked solder joints.  Just lots of trial and error, and not being afraid to toast your fingers now and then Tongue  That and when I started digging around on ebay for Jaguar AV cables, 40 was the cheapest I found, so I said screw that. Spent 8 bucks on three connectors (just incase I killed one or two), and 4 dollars on an RCA composite cable.

So I've got dual monitors on my PC gaming rig, and I hooked up my PS3 to one monitor and my 360 to the other.  A dilemma I had was my desktop speakers only had one input, so I kept having to shuffle the audio cord from PC to either monitor depending on what I was using at the time.  So I looked around for a quick solution, and came up with this...

I dug up an old Altoids can I had around and hit up radio shack for some parts, and about an hour of work later I ended up with...

It's not pretty, but it works. Slipped a little cardboard under the mess to avoid shorts with the can. Three input and one output.
