nice scanner dude!

I made a request for a scanner, and my parents got me a printer/scanner combo for my birthday this summer.  What stinks is that my old printer (circa 1998) still works great and I only have room for one machine.  They said the store didn't sell any plain flatbed scanners anymore, but this combo works great and didn't cost more than a single unit would anyways.  The scan quality is surprisingly good for such a device.

The only drawback to scans I've had are that cracked jewel cases don't show too well, and in many cases I'm seeing crummy pictures from a 1mpx digital camera looking better, provided there is no glare.

Thanks man! I haven't dove into it's settings or features yet but as soon as I catch up with my scanning i'll get to play around a bit.

Wow 1998, now that's bang for the buck! Your printer now is almost at the point where dot matrix ones were in 1998 when some offices and schools still used them and we'd marvel at the changes in technology. Not often in the world pf PC's does any device last that long. You must be using Win 98/ME or 2000? I wouldn't expect XP or Vista to support an old trooper like that. Regardless, it still takes some damn good scans and I can see why you'd keep it.Smiley

just to clarify, the new one is a printer/scanner, the old one was just a printer.

The old printer works somehow through the magic of Windows Update.  Which is good since it won't let me install the drivers from the disc.

300 scans later, still very satisfied. Smiley

Nifty scanner.

My scanner sucks monkey nuts. I've still done hundreds of scans for the site with it, though. They turn out as "acceptable" if I scan at a high dpi.

I'm going to look for a similar scanner. Nice review, Tan. Smiley
