Good news for everyone that takes joy when I strike out while saling. Yeah, I know you're out there! This will be two weeks in a row without a massive haul of awesomeness. But, I do have a good excuse this time. Once again, I had other obligations that interfered with treasure hunting. The only day I got to do much hunting was on Friday, which is generally the slowest day anyway. You see, Saturday I had to quit saling at 11 AM to go to a great party (two-vehicle-accidents-two-head-injuries-and-one-trip-to-the-emergency-room great) and on Sunday I was just too tired from drinking all day to get up early for the trip to the flea market. But before we get into this weeks deals, be sure to check out my GameGavel auctions, there's only one new auction, and its a relist for this week. But there's plenty to look over from last week that are still going on and at low bids. So I broke my "disc games must be complete when buying one at a time" rule. But I'll tell you why, its a PS3 game, which I rarely see and I only have a couple. AND, it was $0.25, I just can't pass a current gen game for that cheap.
I bought this at the sale immediately after the sale I got the last game at. I though maybe it was a sign from the PlayStation Gods that I find a cheap game and then the system right afterwards, so I figured it was in my best interest to buy it.
It was marked $20, so I knew it had to be broke, so I asked the guy what was wrong with it. It was his sister's and she wasn't there, so he had to call her. Before he did that though, I broke the number one rule when buying broken merchandise, I told him I needed one for parts because mine was broke, and I told him what was wrong with mine! I know I shouldn't have, but it just slipped out. So after he talked to his sister, he said that she said it wasn't saving games properly. I hoped he was telling the truth, and figured it was a bad hard drive or associated circuitry, which would have been perfect since mine only has a bad disc drive.
I offered him $10 for the system, but he couldn't do it. The best he could do was $18, so I said it was a deal if he threw in the PS2 controller (marked $2). He agreed to my demands.
So after I got it home, I immediately dove into it, to get out the disc drive. But before I even got it open, I saw something I didn't want to, the warranty seal broken. After getting into it more, I discovered the disc drive had been pried open (I'm assuming to recover a disc when the system died), and the system wouldn't even power on. So after trying everything I could think of, I called it, its scrap and is where it belongs, the "parts" bin now. So I kind of got burned on that, but hopefully, I can use some of its parts later on since its in pretty good shape for a 2006 model.

that sounds like a power supply issue if its not powering on...a power supply can be had for like $30 on ebay
|
Yeah, we discussed it slightly on a thread around here. He tried the power supply, and that's not the issue.
I never wish you bad luck on your saling, Mike. I just wish I had the same luck.

dude, you didn't look at the warranty sticker before you bought it?! Must've been the excitement, eh?
|
@vipor231: As Shadow said, its not the Power Supply. I swapped it into a working system and it worked just fine in it.
@noiseredux: I saw that it was there, I just didn't notice that it had been peeled off and stuck back on.

I might have an extra band hero manual assuming that is what you need.

All I managed to find this week was a wheel of fortune hand held. and Unreal tournament 2 for $1.00
|
U still got A good deal on that PS3 I just sold a broken one on ebay for $35.00 dollars
|
@Izret101: That is what I'm missing, but I'm not worried about it. I don't have the instruments to play it anyway.
@ixtaileddemonfox: Yeah, I know I didn't get a bad deal, but it feels like it when I was expecting to get a fully working PS3 out of it.
|
@NES_Rules: yeah that still kinda sucks
