This weekend was a little slower than the last couple weeks, but I'm glad it was as it gave me a little break to sort through the haul from last week. Still, it wasn't a bad week at all, the quantity wasn't great, but I think the quality of the treasure I found was pretty great. There's only one new auction this week. I spent the better part of the week going through the Atari systems, only to realize I didn't have any boxes large enough to ship them in once I had finished. But I did have time to list the PlayStations! Bidding starts at $10, and the winner gets 4 systems, 4 games, and 3 controllers. And don't forget about last week's auctions. There's an NES with 20 games for $30. And there's a Genesis with 4 games for $8.50. This was the only thing I bought while saling Friday. I believe it was priced at $6, I paid $5 for it. Its CIB and a game I actually plan to play, so I'm happy with it.
Snagged these from a box of stuffed animals marked $0.25 each. I got all three for $0.50. I have some very similar to these, the ones I had are a few inches tall and are keychains, but these are about six inches tall.
Picked these up for $2. Nothing special, but all games I needed. It feels good to fill in some holes without buying 30 other games I didn't need. The PSX games are CIB and were marked $1 each. The N64 game was marked $0.75.
Found these at the flea market, priced at $3 each. The boxed games are all CIB, with the paperwork and cartridge insert as well. I paid $15 for them all. I tried getting them for $10, but she wouldn't take it. And amazingly, I actually needed all the boxes and most of the games, so there wasn't much excess for me to deal with.
And finally, the cherry on top of the weekend's treasure hunt. A more or less complete 7800! The price was a firm $25, but I was happy to pay it. There was also a couple 2600 paddles and 2600/7800 game manuals in the box, but I had already put them away when I took the picture. The best part of this is that it had the power cord so I could test the 7800 I bought last week. And much to my surprise, that one fired right up.

...I'm sorry man, I've yet to even see anywhere near the prices you find in my area, let alone the actual goods. I might actually kill to see a mint Atari 7800 like that.

@Shadow Kisuragi: Before this month, I've seen a total of one 7800 in person. And it was like $150 or something stupid. And I know finding the stuff I do seems like a gift from heaven, its also a curse. I can't not go garage saling because I know I'm passing up awesome deals. For example, I'm going fishing this Saturday, which would normally be exciting, but I know I won't be able to stop thinking about what is sitting on some table at some garage sale. Its bad enough that I don't go garage saling on Thursdays because I know there is stuff out there. I just can't justify the amount of driving for the number of sales out there.

That 7800 looks awesome. Great find!

@NES_Rules: I would gladly take that curse, sir. Out of the 10 times I've been garage saling in the past 2 years, my best find was 2 game soundtracks for $0.50 each. I've never seen a console that wasn't pre-PS2 (besides a beat-up NES and Genesis), and never seen any games with cardboard boxes.
I work on Fridays, and typically am only free from Noon onwards on Saturdays, so you can understand the frustration.

Nice finds! I have those Nintendo stuffed animals from when I was a kid.
|
The 7800 with box is in great condition. Congrats on the find.
|
Nice Atari find yet again!! The N64 games arnt bad either.

I know exactly what you are saying about it being a curse! I can't stand it when I have other obligations on a Friday and/or Saturday. When I have to pass a yard sale sign, I wonder all day if I missed out on some hidden treasure someone dug out of their attic and is selling it for a dollar. I think my wife feels I need some therapy and maybe she is right. I do love my yard sales and flee markets. I guess it is all about the thrill of the hunt!

Retromangia said on 6/19/11 11:12 PM Guys, you are not alone. I feel same way.. It's gift and curse. I'm always wishing that it rains on the weekends, so i DONT have to go tag sailing, lol.. there's just no way that I can't go tag sailing out on a nice saturday morning... because I always find such great deals when I'm out.
I too also think about what deals I'm missing out on, on the weekends I have other obligations.... maybe we should open up a support group for gaming deals anonymous (GA meetings?)...lol My girlfriend also think's I need therapy....luckily I'm able to bribe her to come tagging with me by buying her nice girly things when were out =)
ahhh, I'd love to stop, but there's no way I'm passing up the deals I find... Einhander for $1 anyone?? and thats just one of hundreds =)
... and the hunt continues! Arrrrrr meee matey!
