Here is a strange import game I picked up recently from Square. This one is a little controversial...

Have any of you guys played this one?

If I were in charge of that game, I'd have based it off of Rush's interpretation. You know, a modern-day warrior with a mean, mean stride whose mind is not for rent, gets high on you, and writes out the day's events by the (Mississippi) river. If that isn't a solid premise for a kick*ss RPG, then I don't know what is. However, there's one major obstacle: getting Taito to go for a guest appearance by the Space Invaders. And don't get me started on the "Catch the Spirit, Catch the Spit" side quest.

Hey, you know what? I could probably get this game made with the help of Kickstarter! I'm sure the Collectorcast crew would be more than happy to throw in on this bad boy...

ANYway, I was made aware of this game and its "quirks," as you so eloquently put it, a few years back, thanks to a Cracked.com article entitled, The 6 Most Politically Incorrect Video Game Moments:

Happy reading...

I think I remember hearing different people chime in regarding this game.  From one end you had people calling it racist based on screenshots or second-hand information and the other people saying that the Japanese don't even have racism as we know it (which any Ainu will tell you is horse manure) so it can't be racism, and neither side explaining whether or not the game was any fun to play.
