January is officially over and you guys made rfgeneration proud this month!! We blew past our community goal of beating 100 NES games for the month of January with a final tally of 154 NES games beaten by our own RF Generation members. Even with such an impressive start, we can't let up because there are still a TON of games left to play and the year is only getting shorter.

A lot of you guys took on January's personal goal of beating a game you had never played before too! So great to hear the stories about your first time with great games like Dragon Warrior IV, Gremlins 2, Barbie, Power Blade, Tombs & Treasures, Mystery Quest, Pinball, Advanced D&D: Heroes of the Lance, Street Fighter 2010 and a ton of others! Some games had you loving them, others had you gritting your teeth and muttering curse words under your breath. Regardless, you helped us push towards are goal of beating every licensed NES games and it's been a blast.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN FEBRUARY:

February's community goal is for us to "beat at least 250 total NES games". Since we've already got 154 under our belts that means we've got 516 still to go. Given that we've proven we can handle that challenge already and the fact that there are still a ton of short/easy/staple games left to play, I'm confident we can handle such a big number two months in a row. If we can get to 250 NES games beaten by the end of February, that'll give us a nice cushion for the remainder of the year, when things inevitably slow down as our selection continues to dwindle.

I hope you sports fans are all ready for the personal goal of the month. Everyone is encouraged to "beat at least one sports game this month". These games tend to get ignored even though there are several that could be considered classics or must plays on the system and have built strong foundations for the sports games of today. A lot of us are suffering under piles of snow and ice at the moment, so escape the winter for a few afternoons with your favorite tennis, baseball, golf, football, boxing, fishing, hockey, or soccer game this February. For this month only, players will be able to claim a second game as long as 1 of the two claims is a sports title. Check in front page of the RFGen 2019 NES Challenge thread for a list of currently available sports titles.

I'm having such a great time doing this challenge with all of the participating site members. I'm astonished at how many games we have been able to put down and while I tried to talk Crabby into making this a 2 year project, I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel where we might be able to pull this off. On a site primarily collection based, we have some amazing gamers!  Some really tough games have already been crossed off the list and with this group, I think we can do it.  Though we have a nice size group, I'd still like to see even more members join in.  Such an incredible project!
