Just a quick question

I have a feeling the answer will be "w/e go on ahead!", but I like to ask first, SO.
What's the policy on being overly pedantic with the database. Like, not just that a sub-title wasn't added or something, but if I submit 20, 30, 50 entries that fix one letter or capitalize something or get rid of a space in the title where there shouldn't be one... Are you checkin' people gonna get annoyed at me? I figure that "absolute encyclopedic accuracy" will take place over "you... all you did was capitalize the O in the title", but I don't want to drive anyone insane and then be banned from submitting or something.
On a semi-related note, what about special characters, such as the é in Pokémon or something. I ask because people are more often gonna search "Pokemon" instead of "Pokémon", so if the games were titled with the é in the database, they'd get no results. Is there a work-around for this?

Doing a search with a normal " e " brings up the special character " é " anyway. If it says "Pokémon" on the box, then that's what it should be.
Maybe people submitting Pokémon games don't bother finding out how to type a " é" so just whack "Pokemon" in.
I went through changing all the "Wonderboy" games to "Wonder Boy", as they were on the boxes I owned and even the scans that people had submitted. From memory, there were a couple of duplicate entries because one was Wonderboy III and the other was Wonder Boy III (Or "3", can't remember too well now).

Yes there is.
Just change the actual title to "
Pokémon
...." and put up "
Pokemon
...." as an
Alternative Title
. When people will search for "Pokemon", the "Pokémon" entries will also show up after doing that.
This is also very useful for numbered games. For example: putting "
Age of Empires 3
" as an Alternative Title for the
Age of Empires III
entry will make sure that even people who search for that will find the games they're looking for.
I think it's even possible to put up multiple Alternative Titles by using a comma, like "Age of Empires 3, AoE3, AoEIII", etc.... but I'm not entirely sure about that.

Anytime you see a typo in the title of an entry, by all means, fix it. If it's something like a letter that's not capitalized but should be, go a head and fix it, but try to add some other info as well, but I won't ban someone from submitting if they only fix a minute typo in a title.
Titles that have typos such as missing spaces/extra spaces or use the wrong numbering system, are a higher priority and should be fixed immediately. If a title is not spelled correctly, it won't come up in a search and as James stated, this often leads to duplicate entries. Also, as Sirgin mentioned, the Alternative Title field is there and don't be afraid to use it. As an example, we'll use Wonder Boy games, as James mentioned. If the proper title is "Wonder Boy" someone may search for "WonderBoy" for whatever reason and their intended search doesn't come up, so they add "WonderBoy" as a new title, but if "WonderBoy" was added to the "Wonder Boy" entry's Alternative Title field, the confusion would have been completely avoided.
With the Pokémon thing, just use "Pokémon" as the Title and put "Pokemon" for the Alternative Title. That way, the database has the proper title, but it still comes up in searches.

By all means go ahead and fix any typos and formatting problems you fine. If there's any incorrect information go ahead and correct those too. Just try not to submit separate entries for multiple corrections for the same game. If there's more than one correction for a game that needs to be made, just make all corrections in the same submission. It makes it easier for the staff to approve submissions.

Ahhh, okay. I thought that might be the case.
Thanks much to all of you.
@St0rm: Why of course. The only time I make multiple submissions is if after I submit the first time I notice something I didn't catch before.
