Free Radical has a great creative force behind them.
Definitely. But I'm dissapointed with Haze though. (as is everyone, I'm sure)

These guys are responsible for Goldeneye and the Timesplitters series...you'd think they know how to make an amazing shooter by now. Sad

That makes the assumption that it's the same team that made Goldeneye when it most certainly is not. Sure it has elements of that original team but you have to remember that it splintered off into many directions. Some went to Nintendo, others to Free Radical, some Microsoft etc etc.

You can no more compare Free Radical / Zoonami / Rare 2008 / Eighth Wonder to Rare (1998) any more than say the Hartford Whalers to the Carolina Hurricanes. Hell Perfect Dark Zero has as much "old Rare" as Timesplitters 2 does. Tongue

Adams Family Values

I never got very far in that one, for some reason. I should really pick it up again.

Ahhh, you're totally right. Thanks for bringing that up. Smiley

But then again, you know, once a developer has made a name for itself the way Free Radical did, people expect a certain level of quality when seeing a game of them in stores.

I think most casual gamers (although I wouldn't call gamers who know Free Radical casual, but that aside) will think "Free Radical, this must be good!" and not "Free Radical! ....hmmm, better do some homework first to see if there hasn't been too much changes in that studio."

That's more to the point. Most will think Timesplitters series, Second Sight and haze, that's it, nothing more. Speaking strictly from that, you have 2 good games and 3 average ones, I wouldn't call that making a name for themselves.

Hmmm, I'd rather say the other way around. 3 good ones and 2 average ones. Timesplitters 2, Timesplitters:Future Perfect and Second Sight being good and Timesplitters 1 and Haze average.

Well no matter which way you slice it, Free Radical hardly has a reputation deserving of all the praise they seem to get.

I'll post a game tomorrow, unless somebody else has one they really want to throw out.

I guess you're right. Hopefully their next game will be better. A next-gen Timesplitters, perhaps? That would be fun for sure.

Sorry it took me... a whole day. I had to finish my entry for the Mega Man 9 contest.

This was a good one:
