what are the rarest games you can think of? Such as limited releases, recalls, special editions etc i have a large list but i hope that i can get input on games, peripherals, systems, etc. that i may have overlooked.

If you're looking for special editions, John Madden Football: Championship Edition is pretty rare.  I'm still trying to find out if it was ever released with a manual and box, since it was a rental store exclusive.

Other than that, there are of course the Nintendo World Championship carts, Stadium Events, Metal Slug on AES, etc.

nintendo world championship would be impossible there were 116 carts made and 26 were gold the other 90 were gray
i do think there was a box and instructions for madden ill have to double check that though...
there was also a blockbuster world championship cartridge for genesis which was a nba jam judge dredd combo cart there are rumors that there was also a micromachienes/psycho pinball and a rambo3 tetris combo

Rarest game is Kizuna Encounter for the Euro Neo Geo AES.  It sold for over 10,000 a few months back. I think there are 3 or 4 known games.

You'd be surprised, I've seen the grey carts on ebay a couple of times going for a few thousand.  No Gold ones though!  :-/

the first Kizuna Encounter sold for 11,250 dollars the second for 12,500 and there are less than 10 accounted for this is the PAL version dont forget
the japoanese version goes for about 600 usd
both versions boot up in the native language of the system played on

I know a chick that trader a copy of symphony of the night for a copy of suikoden II.  Suikoden is one of the few games I actively hunt for, and she got it for a 20$ trade.  Aaaarrrgg.

Goes to show that not everyone knows the worth of their possessions.

Atari 2600 had quite a few games that had very small release numbers. Some of them are:

Magicard-Only available by mail order from Commavid

Video Life-Even more rare than Magicard.  This game was only offered to people who purchased Magicard.

Pepsi Invaders/Coke wins-this game was given to Coke employees from thier Atlanta bottling plant.  There are less than 500 in existence

There are a bunch of others too, but these are the only ones that I can remember the story behind.

I don't know if I'd include Kakuto Chojin on that list. It's surely a "potential" rare but right now it's still fairly easy to obtain. Even though it was supposedly recalled I still see it on the shelves at places like Media Play and Meijers.

Huh thats stranged it was supposed to have been sent back to Microsoft by all stores. I got mine used for like 20 bucks new it was 50. What is Miejers by the way?

Meijers is a big department/grocery store much like Wal-Mart.

I thought Kakuto Chojin was supposed to have been sent back too. When it first happened they were going for $60 or $70 on eBay. I saw one at Meijers about 3 weeks ago. I remember it because i was there with my brother in law and he was asking for recommendation on Xbox games so we were perusing the game aisle. I spotted it and was surprised it was STILL on the shelf, 4 or 5 copies too.
